Day after calling Trump a 'mentally deranged dotard', did NK just detonate another nuke?

    Breaking on CNN:

Seismic activity detected near North Korean nuclear site; cause is unknown

By Joe Sterling and Stella Ko, CNN
Updated 11:00 AM ET, Sat September 23, 2017

    Story highlights

    • USGS: "This event occurred in the area of the previous North Korean nuclear tests"
    • Nuclear watchdog group cites two seismic events but says neither appear man-made

(CNN)Seismic activity was detected Saturday near the site of North Korea's Punggye-ri nuclear site, but it is not known whether a nuclear test caused the development.

The first sign Pyongyang has conducted a nuclear test is usually seismic activity. North Korea has one nuclear test site -- Punggye-ri.
A magnitude 3.5 earthquake struck at 4:29 a.m. ET Saturday 22 kilometers (more than 13 miles) east-northeast of Sungjibaegam, North Korea, the US Geological Survey said. The depth of the earthquake was 5 kilometers (3.1 miles).

    War of words

Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho spoke to reporters in New York during the UN General Assembly shortly after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made an unprecedented televised statement, accusing Trump of being "mentally deranged."
In a rare direct statement, Kim said that Trump would "pay dearly" for the threats, and that North Korea "will consider with seriousness exercising of a corresponding, highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history."
"I am now thinking hard about what response he could have expected when he allowed such eccentric words to trip off his tongue," Kim said. "I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged US dotard with fire."
The forceful rhetoric from Pyongyang came after Trump threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea in a speech Tuesday to the General Assembly. Trump tweeted Friday that Kim was "obviously a madman" who would be "tested like never before."

I don't know, but all of this just seems like somebody saying, his neighbor is getting a shotgun and and he doesn't want his neighbor to have a shotgun, because he might shoot somebody. All the while, the one who is complaining, has multiple shotguns.

I don't care what weapons North Korea has. Now if they use them, that's a different story.

I doubt it, because the South have been consistently skeptical of the world's claims, citing they haven't discovered any fallout during recent tests, but I guess Generalissimo Trump really wants to "find out" what the North are hiding. Perhaps China's hiding our jobs in North Korea, and we're just watching our economy implode.

I don't know, last time a foreign leader severely insulted our national leader, we invaded that country by inventing bogus WMD threat.

Why should we not invade this rogue state? This time we would not even have to invent bogus WMD threat argument.

Sir, WMD are not bogus! Khan gave WMD to Saddam, who gave them to Assad, who gave them to Kim. Please follow the leader.

Korea isn't claiming any test- and they like to brag when they have one. The quake is smaller than any of their nuclear tests resulted in.

    October 2006: 4.3

    -- May 2009 : 4.7

    -- February 2013: 5.1

    -- January 2016: 5.1

    -- September 2016: 5.3

    -- Sept 2017: 6.3 (estimates vary)
    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/09...st-report.html

    Possibilities?
    An actual earthquake.
A failed hydrogen bomb test (a hydrogen bomb uses smaller synchronized explosions to rapidly compress the nuclear fuel to achieve their higher yield than a conventional nuclear weapon- perhaps the primary explosion occurred but not enough to achieve fusion).
A collapse of ground in the space created by previous underground nuclear tests.

Experts are saying the seismic signature is not consistent with a nuclear test.

I seen his picture in a few of the posts before, that explains why. I have not seen that many posts in so short a time frame before today. They are usually days if not weeks apart.

Pyongyang keeps up military threats against U.S. after Trump’s ridicule

By Carol Morello September 24 at 2:45 PM

Tension between the United States and North Korea remained high Sunday as Pyongyang released propaganda videos showing U.S. planes and an aircraft carrier under attack.
The violent videos came after President Trump derided North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, by calling him “Little Rocket Man” and vowing at the United Nations to “totally destroy” North Korea if it threatens the United States or its allies.

Photoshopped pictures from a state-owned propaganda website, DPRK Today, purported to show a North Korean missile making a direct hit on B-1B Lancer bombers and an F-35 fighter jet. In the doctored shots, the planes were engulfed in flames.
Another falsified video on the website showed a missile launched from a North Korean submarine striking the USS Carl Vinson, a nuclear-powered supercarrier. Like the planes, the ship explodes in a firestorm.
The fake news targets were apparently chosen because B-1B bombers escorted by Air Force fighter jets flew in international airspace off the coast of North Korea on Saturday in a clear demonstration of force. And the Carl Vinson led one of two carrier strike groups that conducted joint exercises with South Korea and Japan earlier this year.
