I like my state flag , simple gold torch representing Liberty and Enlightenment . It is only a hundred years old . It was chosen from a contest administered by The Daughters of The Revolution and the winner was awarded a hundred bucks . The previous flag used was the state seal , A Buffalo . Not really sure why any states even need a flag .They will not be used for military colors or battle . That was the purpose of the flag here , to be used by Militia and Guard units . Now they just represent wasted tax dollars by marking the spot of tax ticks in state agencies .
