    Breaking on Drudge:

NKorea Dismisses Trump Threat as 'Dog Barking'...

    2017/09/21 06:50

(ATTN: UPDATES with Ri's remarks in paras 1-6; CHANGES headline)
NEW YORK, Sept. 20 (Yonhap) -- North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho slammed U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday, saying his threat to destroy the nation amounted to "the sound of a dog barking."

Ri arrived in New York earlier in the day to attend the U.N. General Assembly.
Speaking to reporters in front of his hotel, he issued the regime's first response to Trump's threat a day earlier to "totally destroy" North Korea if it poses a direct threat to the U.S. or its allies.
"If he was thinking he could scare us with the sound of a dog barking, that's really a dog dream," Ri said, referencing a North Korean proverb that a procession moves even if dogs bark. In Korean, a dog dream is one that is absurd and makes little sense.
Asked to comment on "Rocket Man," Trump's new nickname for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, he said, "I feel sorry for his aides."

Ri flew into JFK International Airport from Beijing and was escorted out by Pyongyang's ambassador to the U.N., Ja Song-nam. His visit comes amid growing pressure on the regime to abandon its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
The minister is scheduled to address the global gathering on Friday and meet with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Saturday.

Typically, in my way of thinking, a barking dog is considered a warning. That's why enemies always get rid of the dogs first. It's hard to sneak up on folks who have dogs.

Dogs symbolize something entirely different in Korea but this was definitely a all bark no bite thing.

If a F-35 actually maintains course and realizes its target over North Korea, then yes they should be afraid; however, the odds of that actually occurring are only slight.

If combat resumes, Kim will either become useless and get shot day one, or he'll "escape" to destinations unknown. Then we'll find him ten years later working as a Donald Duck mascot in Disney World. We'll hide him in Rodman's closet and shoot him on his wife's birthday, once his boogeyman status has dried up.

Anyway, something tells me he won't die in Korea, but there's also the possibility he'll turn up in one of Trump's Asian towers. Something like that. You heard it here first.

Interestingly (sadly? happily?) this is probably true. They're right.

But it raises the question: why say this? There is no better way to goad the dog into stopping barking and starting biting than taunting like this. Is the "face" gained with his people really worth the risk?

Alternatively, does this guy actually want a conflict or war?

rumor has it they have been bypassing sanctions but they had a really bad harvest this season and can't import food to feed the people. So right now his regime is running on fumes, theres nothing more scary then a man with nothing to lose

Kim is clearly backed by somebody with enough power to match US of A. Slick Willy gave them access to nuclear energy because Chinese demanded it (see Chinagate) and now we are in a bind while they openly mock us. Why Chinese do not freak out after we created another nuclear state right next door to them?

If Kim lived in the real world, I suppose he'd be afraid, but I get the impression he still plays with Legos and thinks he's a basketball legend.

In a way, he reminds me of MJ.

You agree with animal comparison NK used for current Trump, that sounds like very controversial view.

Curios, what was you reaction when NK had used another animal comparison for Obama?

starvation might be real soon, South Korean propaganda has been focused on how much South Korean citizens are numb to the threats from the NK regime- they even passed fake humanitarian package supposedly for the pregnant women and children which is basically fake news and won't really help its just to silence their population that would oppose the policy.

Granted North Korea's using of M-word for Obama has add racial overtone (for US audience at aleast as not sure cultural meanings for the two anaimals in korean culture) than NKorea using D-word for Trump but I do not believe at all that quoting such comprisons in a discussion or quizzing about them is "race card". I would prefer people were limited to using non-animal labels like "founding father of ISIS" or "orange hair man" or "rocket man" etc.

Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. I try to throw the haters some crumbs sometimes. It's not the insult but the meaning I agree with though. In all likelihood, my sense is that the US is not about to "totally destroy" NoKo. Thus, Ri is right: it's bluster.

Curios, what was you reaction when NK had used another animal comparison for Obama?
    Monkeys make great curios.

Two facts. 1. North Korea is a high IQ country. 2. They're having a rough time. And the rough time is general; the leader isn't focused on killing all the smartest and best people (ala Pol Pot) or making things harder for them, in fact he's probably promoting them and putting them in charge of the nuclear program -- he needs all the help he can get. So really, long term, this is great for them. Rough times make strong men. Give it a couple generations and I think we'll see tremendous things coming out of North Korea. North Korea is one of the bright spots of hope in the world, its continued existence is one of the good things going on in the world right now.

    Yea agreed , it's a bluster on Trump's part.

'Rocket Man' vs. the 'Dotard.' Heaven help us all | Opinion

    September 22, 2017
    By Tim Morris, Columnist

Two world leaders with their fingers on nuclear triggers sound more like eighth-graders, and I can't apologize enough to eighth-graders for insulting them that way.
It started with U.S. President Donald Trump addressing the United Nations on Tuesday (Sept. 19) with condemnations of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Trump called North Korea's regime a "band of criminals" and referred to Kim as a "Rocket Man" on "a suicide mission."
"The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea," he said.
Kim shot back (sorry, bad choice of words) Friday by calling Trump a "mentally deranged U.S. dotard" and vowed the "highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history."
"Action is the best option in treating the dotard who, hard of hearing, is uttering only what he wants to say," Kim said. "I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged U. S. dotard with fire."
