President Trump certainly seemed to enjoy himself when addressing the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday and threatening to wipe an entire nation off the map. You know who didn’t look like he was having a good time? The guy charged with the impossible task of keeping his unhinged boss on a leash. AP photographer Mary Altaffer caught a few candid snaps of White House Chief of Staff John Kelly reacting to the president’s speech and he looks like his toilet backed up and flooded a $#@! river into his TV room. Except that toilet is his boss and the TV room is every waking minute of his life.
The top image looks like Kelly is doing an impression of the Jean-Luc Picard facepalm meme.
Now, sure, he could just be taking a break and innocuously rubbing his temples. But let’s look at this photo of Kelly looking like he’s hit that point of drunkenness where he’s doubled over, taking deep breaths, and actively willing himself not to puke on the subway.
Kelly wasn’t the only attendee who didn’t greet the speech with unbridled enthusiasm. Trump’s “no choice but to totally destroy North Korea” line was reportedly greeted with a chorus of gasps by representatives of the member states.
If it makes Kelly feel any better, he wasn’t the only one caught burying his head in his hands.
