Afghan "Viceroy"? Trump Mulling Blackwater Founder Erik Prince's Plan To Privatize Longest War

Alexander the Great couldn't do it. Genghis Khan couldn't do it. Neither could the British Empire nor NATO and the US military machine. But Erik Prince thinks he can stabilize Afghanistan with his latest mercenary empire?
“I think it will make Erik Prince billions of dollars while he loses the war for us,” a congressional aide told The Atlantic of the Blackwater founder's plan to privatize the war in Afghanistan.
Prince has been shopping his plan all around Washington for the past year which calls for major draw down of Pentagon train and assist forces and their replacement by private contractors, but now it appears President Trump may actually be entertaining the idea.

Moscow To Host Meeting Between Afghan Officials And Taliban – Report
https://southfront.org/moscow-to-hos...aliban-report/
Taliban fighters inside Afghan military base
On September 21, Afghan officials declared their readiness to meet with representatives of the Taliban in Moscow.
According to Kabulov, the meeting composition is now being put together.
“Kabul is determined to participate in the Moscow-hosted meeting. Now we are in the process of developing modalities for this participation. Currently, the main thing is not the date, but the content, so this is the part that we are working on,” the Russian news agency TASS quoted Kabulov as saying.
A meeting between Afghan officials and the Taliban
was supposed to take place in Moscow on September 4 as a part of a conference on the Afghan crisis.
However, Kabul refused to attend the meeting only days before its date
due to pressure from the U.S. government, according to Afghan sources.
The exact date of the new meeting on Afghanistan is yet to become clear,
but Kabulov’s positive statement indicates that we may see it happening soon.
Afghan officials have reacted angrily to speculation that foreign military contractors could take over training and advising the Afghan armed forces, following a renewed push by the founder of private military contractor Blackwater.
Erik Prince, whose company came to prominence during the war in Iraq, has been lobbying officials about his proposal to privatize parts of U.S. military operations in Afghanistan for more than a year.
On a recent visit to Kabul, he lobbied several Afghan political figures and gave interviews to media outlets including Tolo News, Afghanistan’s largest television station, as well as the New York Times, to discuss the plan.
President Ashraf Ghani, approaching presidential elections in April, has repeatedly rejected the proposal and on Thursday his national security adviser issued a statement condemning what he called a “destructive and divisive debate”.
“Under no circumstances will the Afghan government and people allow the counterterrorism fight to become a private, for-profit business,” the statement said.

The Taliban has ordered its fighters to attack authorities and security forces who are helping organize this month’s parliamentary elections in Afghanistan, denouncing the process as “fake” and “completely bogus.”
The Islamist insurgency in a statement issued Monday called on candidates and voters to boycott the polls, insisting they are being held “for the sole purpose of legitimizing those stooges who are authorized by the occupying forces” in Afghanistan.
While responding to the Taliban's first direct threat to disrupt the elections, a U.S. military spokesman noted the upcoming Afghan democratic process is moving ahead despite the challenge.
"The enemies of Afghanistan pledging to kill people who want to participate in democracy. Encouraging to see the work being done to hold secure and inclusive balloting even with all the challenges," tweeted Colonel Day Butler (@USFOR_A)

The long-delayed elections are scheduled for October 20. More than 2,500 candidates, including 418 women, are competing for the 249 seats in the lower House of Parliament, the Wolesi Jirga.
The Afghan government plans to deploy 54,000 soldiers and policemen to ensure voters’ safety on the polling day. Thousands of U.S-led NATO forces in the country have also vowed to assist Afghan authorities in holding the elections.
“Those people who are trying to help in holding this process successfully by providing security, should be targeted and no stone should be left unturned for the prevention and failure of this malicious American conspiracy,” said the Taliban statement.

A suicide blast in southern Afghanistan has killed a parliamentary candidate along with nine supporters, a day after the Taliban insurgent group announced it would disrupt the upcoming national elections with violent attacks.
An official said the bomber targeted a campaign office in Lashkargah, capital of the southern Helmand province. Provincial police spokesman Abdul Salam Afghan told VOA that the blast wounded at least 15 people. He identified the slain candidate as Saleh Mohammad Achakzai, who was contesting a seat in the lower house of parliament, the Wolesi Jirga.
Witnesses expect the number of casualties to rise because the campaign office was crowed at the time of the attack.

His first wife was Jemima Goldsmith, part of the Goldsmith banking family. She is 8 years his junior. They have two sons.
And doesn't like Trump:
Before Jemima, Imran had another relationship with another British woman, Sita White, which produced a daughter named Tyrian:
Imran never acknowledged that Tyrian is his daughter.
But before long she had begun a relationship with Imran Khan, whom she met in the Jermyn Street nightclub, Tramp. The Pakistani cricketer ended the affair after a few months, but after Sita moved permanently to Los Angeles in 1990 they spent one final night together. Sita later claimed she had asked Khan to father her child and that he had agreed.
Until the result of this assignation, Tyrian, was three, Sita kept the identity of her daughter's father secret. So did Khan, informing his biographer, Ivo Tennant, that he knew Lord White but making no mention of Sita. Neither was White exactly supportive of his daughter. He did invite her to live with him in his Bel Air home during her pregnancy, but, according to Sita, when Tyrian was born his only words were "that is not a white child" and he never made any effort to see her again.
When the news of Khan's paternity (which he has never publicly admitted) came out, he was by then married to Jemima Goldsmith, whose father Sir James was a friend of Gordy's. Campaigning for his own political party in Pakistan, Khan was attacked by opponents for violating the tenets of Islam. Sita promised "to do whatever it takes to prove him guilty" and later that year a California judge declared that Khan was the father after he failed to contest the paternity suit Sita filed.
Jemima, his first wife, also takes care of Imran's illegitimate child, Tyrian.
Despite all of this, Jemima maintains a relationship with Imran, especially due to their two sons, and still holds Pakistan citizenship and is still involved in Pakistan affairs.
His second wife is also connected to British media elite and politics. She's a British-Pakistani journalist, Reham Khan:
She wrote a tell-all book about their short less than a year marriage that was supposed to make Imran Khan lose the election. That obviously didn't work.
His current wife, Bushra Maneka, is his Sufi spiritual mentor and she dresses a bit more modestly than his previous wives/girlfriends:

I doubt much has changed since this ^^^
'withdrawal of its troops' is for the media... a sound bite. There WILL be 'boots' on the ground/mercs/security forces.

The 'meeting' with Taliban is to cut them in on the plunder. Bet on it.

I want to give some historical background on Afghanistan and Pakistan. The country currently known as Pakistan was basically split at one time between the Afghan Durrani Empire and the Sikh Empire. The Durrani Empire ruled the northern parts of Pakistan and Balochistan (at one time they ruled all of Pakistan). The Sikh Empire ruled the other parts of Pakistan and some parts of modern day India, basically all of Punjab and Kashmir.
The British were already making incursions into the Indian subcontinent through various means. They initially started this in 1620 or so when setting up trading posts. They also bribed local strongmen, hired local mercenaries to fight their battles and gain political and economic influence. However, it needs to emphasized that the British did not overthrow or lead to the downfall of the Mughal Empire, it was the Hindu empire, Marathas, who did politically and militarily defeated the Mughals.
The British allied with the Sikh Empire to push the Afghan Durranis back. As a result of that conflict, the modern-day-state of Afghanistan was created with its current borders which bordered British India back then and Pakistan today. The Afghans of course still remember this and this is why they don't really recognize their border with Pakistan as a legitimate international border.
The British then went on to defeat and destroy the Sikh Empire. The Sikhs never recovered from that humiliation and treachery of the British and from now on are basically under Hindu rule/control. They never got their own country back. The British then destroyed the Hindu Maratha Empire, Mysore Empire (another Muslim kingdom in South India), Oudh State (a Shia Muslim kingdom in Northern India) and other smaller princeley states to formally control all of the subcontinent. All of this of course took centuries.
