United Church Of Christ Condemns Israel For Treatment Of Palestinian Children

(JTA) — The United Church of Christ overwhelmingly approved a resolution condemning Israel for its treatment of Palestinian children.
The vote Sunday night by delegates at the 31st General Synod of the United Church of Christ in Baltimore was 79 percent in favor, 13 percent against and 9 percent abstaining, according to a statement issued by the UCC.
The resolution calls on Israel to “exercise an absolute prohibition against torture and ill-treatment of detained children.”
It also calls on the United States to withhold military assistance from Israel over what the church says are violations of human rights in its treatment of Palestinian children. The resolution says the churches and members must “learn about the plight of children in Palestine and the State of Israel.”
It comes two years after the church voted to divest from companies that profit from Israel’s control of the West Bank.

Same zionist lobbies that oppose cutting aid to Israel tend to be the biggest hurdle in cutting aid to other oppressive regimes like Egypt, Jordan, SA etc because they see those autocratic regimes are "allies" of Israel against the popular democratic will of their populations.. so it's sort of bribery and much of it could probably be counted as aid to/for Israel.

I attended a Trinity Reformed United Chuch of Christ service the week before last.

First time I stepped into a church 30 years. I found them friendly, gracious hosts.

I went there because my missus' cousins niece had spent a year in Jordan teaching Syrian refugees English.

Her testimony was enlightening.

They want to go home.
They do not want to immigrate.
They invited her to their homes and used over one quarter of their food allotment to prepare a dinner "worthy"of their teachers presence.
The divide between Christian and Muslim never came up in discussion. Only similarities.
Before now Christians were community members. No different than a synagogue in Catholic Boston.
They don't hate Americans. God save the innocent for they know not what we have done.

I think theres the natural resources and military spending motives but iZrael is also a major benefactor.
