Never seen before weapons brace the Syrian battlefield in the war against ISIS

    https://cdn.almasdarnews.com/wp-cont...-2-Vehicle.png

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (10:50 PM) -The Russian Terminator-2 BMPT vehicle which hasn’t entered service in any armed forces in the world was spotted in the eastern countryside of Hama alongside the elite Desert Hawks who are wrapping up their preparations for an offensive aimed at expelling ISIS from the central province.

The vehicle was first seen in Hmeimim Airbase during President Assad’s visit the previous week. According to reports, the Terminator-2 war machine will participate in the fierce battles of Hama’s rugged mountainous terrain and will be operated by Russian service members until Syrian Army units receive adequate training on the weapon system.

Although a US-Russian brokered southern Syria ceasefire is in effect across Daraa, Quneitra and western Sweida,

the latter province’s eastern countryside is carefully excluded from the agreement
and thus remains a legitimate target for the SAA.

    US/FSA POCKET

Massive FSA salient in Syrian desert to be cut-off and annihilated by pro-Syria forces

It has been two days since pro-government forces launched the second phase of Operation Big Dawn
a trans-provincial offensive aimed at expelling US-backed FSA mercenaries from Syria’s southwestern Badia region.

During the initial stage of the offensive, pro-government forces
achieved total surprise and operational superiority over FSA militants within a matter of hours,
capturing twenty key villages, towns, dams and hilltops.

The SAA and its allies also managed to come within twenty kilometers of encircling FSA forces
within a mountainous, semi-desert area encompassing parts of central Rif Dimashq Governonate and northeastern As-Suwayda Governonate.

However, pro-government forces then halted their attack in order to consolidate their gains
and perhaps entice the FSA mercenaries within the partly besieged salient to withdraw.

It is believed that the US-backed FSA militants who operate within in the large salient
are ridiculously outnumbered in terms of manpower – possibly to a factor of ten-to-one.
Furthermore, pro-government forces also possess vastly superior numbers of tanks and artillery.

The most recent reports coming in from the front suggest that pro-government forces are now attacking
the Abu Khashbah Dam area, which stands about halfway between the northern and southern pincers of their advance thus far.

This appears to be an indication that pro-government forces
are not only resuming offensive operations in the area
but also intend to completely isolate the aforementioned FSA-held salient
with the eventual goal of liquidating it.

    Damascus, Jobar:

The battle for Jobar in eastern Damascus – Why it is so important

Jobar, a Damascus district controlled by terrorists persists after 5 years...
(After years there are tunnels, fortifications and hideouts everywhere.)

    TODAY'S LATEST JOBAR MAP UPDATE:

    7/12/17
    from 0:10 thru 0:35

The battle for Jobar in eastern Damascus – Why it is so important

The rebel-held district of Jobar has withstood pro-government attacks for around five years (since 2012).
The Islamist militants who fight for it have managed to maintain their grip over the suburb
through a combination of sheer determination and underground tunnels
to facilitate the movement of fighters and supplies.

    OUTFLANKING/DIVIDING

In attempting to dislodge Islamist militants from Jobar, the SAA cannot attack the suburb directly.

In the past, the SAA has attempted a frontal-attack approach and failed every time.

The battle must first cut all lines of communication
(again, many of which are underground) into Jobar and physically isolate the district.

The SAA is therefore obligated to outflank Jobar
    to both the north
    and the south
at suburbs of Zamalka and Ayn Tarma respectively...

    https://www.almasdarnews.com/article...uburb-zamalka/
....all whilst keeping military pressure on Jobar itself,
in order stretch rebel manpower to breaking point.

    VITAL M-5 HIGHWAY

The strategic value of Jobar is immense.

It is the last rebel-held bastion in Damascus to the west of the M-5 Highway.
The district’s liberation would grant pro-government forces full control over the section of M-5 Highway that runs through Damascus.

Any attempt to re-enter Jobar in a counter-attack that involves crossing the M-5 Highway
would result in total slaughter for Islamist militants
for such terrain is the most ideal for creating defensive kill-zones.

In other words, if the rebels lose Jobar,
they will never be able to reclaim it.

Never underestimate the damage this does... "An Army travels on its stomach".. even ISIS.

ISIL’s oil trade takes big hit as Syrian Army troops advance in southern Raqqa

Led by their elite Tiger Forces, the Syrian Arab Army liberated a half dozen oil fields from the Islamic State militants this morning,
resulting in another big loss for the aforementioned terrorist group.

Making matters worse for the Islamic State, the Tiger Forces are pushing much further southeast in Al-Raqqa,
as they enter more oil rich areas between these province and nearby Homs.

The Syrian Arab Army will likely continue to push south of Al-Raqqa in the coming days,
which will further endanger ISIL’s oil trade and bastion in the central Syria.

    battle for central Syria

    Al-Sukhnah

A massive battle is brewing in central Syria,
as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies continue to surround the strategic city of Al-Sukhnah in eastern Homs.

With Syrian Army units pushing from two different axes,
the Islamic State is being forced to fortify Al-Sukhnah and its surrounding gas fields
in order to prevent the government units from overrunning this rough patch of desert terrain.

    WAITING FOR THE TIGERS

Despite being at the western outskirts of the city,
the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Corps and Hezbollah will not begin their assault
until the Tiger Forces reach the northern axis of Al-Sukhnah.

At the rate the Tiger Forces are advancing in southern Al-Raqqa,
their units could be at the northern edges of Al-Sukhnah within the next two weeks.
