    Protesters disrupt "Trump assassination" play

Some left wing neocons enablers artistic expressions seem to be in some trouble:

Protesters disrupted Shakespeare in the Park in outrage over its Trump-like Julius Caesar

The pair seems to have misread the 400-year-old play.
    Jun 17, 2017, 3:06am EDT

Tina Benko, Gregg Henry, Teagle F. Bougere, and Elizabeth Marvel in Shakespeare in the Park’s production of Julius Caesar. The Public Theater Two protesters interrupted the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park performance of Julius Caesar on Friday night, with one of them crashing the stage to yell, “Stop the normalization of political violence against the right! This is unacceptable!"
The production, which features a Donald Trump-esque figure in its title role, has been a target of right-wing outrage since before its official opening on June 12. Because the 400-year-old play sees Julius Caesar assassinated by members of the Roman Senate — and thus, in this production, it’s the Trump-esque figure who meets an untimely demise — the Public Theater’s staging has drawn condemnation from news outlets such as Breitbart and Fox News and lost the support of two corporate sponsors as a result.

What do you guys think of this protest and the play? Should people protest it or just ignore it?

The thing about art is it always inspires people to commit crimes, I mean look at American TV, people only murder because of TV so we should just ban TV that has murder in it.

I'm still tripping out that the New York Times basically owns this public theater where they are assassinating the sitting President..

I think the normalization of violence against the right is a huge problem. It came from the radicalization caused by media outlets like the New York Times. It's obvious what their goals are. It is dangerous to anybody currently involved in any right wing movements, and could be dangerous for anybody in any future right wing, conservative or even liberty movements.

    By all means, protest, vigorously.

Not because it's a stylized version of Trump, nor because it's violent...hell I'm guilty of that.

No, protest because of the hypocrisy...imagine if that was a bunch of white people lynching a stylized figure of Obama in a fictional work. The howls of protest, echoed by the government media organs, would reach the moons of Jupiter.

More importantly, protest to demonstrate the "Great Gulf"...the irreconcilable divide which now is very clear. There are now two, maybe more, distinct Americas, whose people share no common bond whatsoever and loathe each other basically on sight.

Break it up...secession now, for peace.

    ..
Not sure if a uniform standard to govern public or private "art" displays of such nature could be implemented.
Obama unlike Trump was the historic first mixed-race occupant of the White House and public/media/art sensibilities are naturally different in handling of arts/protests surrounding displays relating to Trump vs Obama.

Secret Service investigate after man hangs Obama effigy from a noose on his front lawn

    By Victoria Wellman
    24 October 2012

Residents of a quiet southern California neighbourhood were shocked by a neighbour's decision to hang an effigy of President Obama in his front garden and even more astonished when the Secret Service came calling at his house a day later.

Agents arrived at the home of Eddie Million on Tuesday night after police received a complaint on Monday, and questioned the Moreno Valley man as to why he chose to hang a replica of the president from a tree.

“One dead Obama is worth 7,650 living Ukrainians,” read a sign hanging from the figure's neck, referencing the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

An effigy of U.S. President Barack Obama was discovered hanging from a bridge Monday in the Ural Mountains region of Perm, its head covered by an executioner's hood, news reports said.

To be fair, NYT neocons also normalized violence against Iraqi civilians few years back using lies.

Why does this idiot think that it wasn't something they pre-planned? What does this prove? Of course it is smart to get the domain for the website before you commit the act that may put you in jail, and that you will need copious money for attorneys.

You were trying to claim the other day that the fine was less than the amount the raised - but she is fighting it with attorneys, so clearly she is going to need more money.

You really need to think more before you post.

Amateurish spies like James O’Keefe III attempt to sway the 2016 campaign.
    ...
In 2014, his organization became more directly involved in electoral politics, sprouting a “social welfare” limb called the Project Veritas Action Fund. Such organizations, referred to in the tax code as 501c4 groups, have proliferated since 2010, when the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Citizens United case essentially legalized unlimited corporate and individual spending on politics. Unlike ordinary charities, 501c4 groups can accept unlimited contributions from secret donors and spend the cash directly on campaigns. They just need to make a plausible case that they promote social welfare and that politics is not their primary purpose. O’Keefe says that the new group “allows us to literally put someone undercover in a campaign.”

In the era of “dark money,” as anonymous political donations are often described, Project Veritas has been thriving. According to its federal tax filings, between 2013 and 2014 its budget doubled, from $1.2 million to $2.4 million. O’Keefe told me that he has “about a dozen undercover operations ongoing at any given time.” One of these, he said, involves “someone working for Hillary Clinton full time, as a paid staffer.” This “embedded” operative, he said, “is employed in the campaign in the highest echelons.” (He declined to be more specific.) Every day, the operative sends “video to us over our own server.” He added, “Just like Hillary Clinton, we have our own Internet server in Westchester County!” He went on, “We see everything. We have thousands of hours of video. You’ll see infighting, plans, strategy.” O’Keefe said that he has been compiling a feature film from the operative’s footage, but won’t release it until the late summer or fall, when it will have maximum impact. In the meantime, he has posted teasers online; several of the clips end with the words “Stay tuned, Hillary, and check your e-mail.”

O’Keefe promised that footage he has acquired through his various operatives “will force people to resign.” He later added that he had video of “top, top, top-ranking officials discussing how and why they commit” voter fraud “to sway races.”

Given O’Keefe’s track record, it would be a mistake to take his grand statements too seriously. He first gained wide notoriety in 2009, when he released a series of undercover videos attacking the liberal community-organizing group ACORN. The videos had an immediate effect, but raised serious questions about his methods and ethics—questions that have trailed him ever since. He secretly filmed encounters in which he and a female colleague showed up at ACORN offices in various cities, claiming to be a pimp and an underage prostitute who wanted advice on how to make prostitution look like a legal business. ACORN officials appeared to oblige them, in one instance advising them to make sure that the immigrants O’Keefe claimed he was going to prostitute actually went to school as exchange students. After O’Keefe began releasing his exposés of ACORN, the House of Representatives voted to cut off federal funds to the group, which soon collapsed. But an ACORN official filmed in California, who was fired because he seemed to embrace the proposed scheme, successfully settled a lawsuit against O’Keefe for a hundred thousand dollars. He argued that he had not consented to be videotaped, as is required in California, and that after learning about the prostitution idea he had called the police. O’Keefe hadn’t bothered to contact the employee before airing the damning footage.

Johnny Depp APOLOGIZES for Trump assassination joke hours after an outraged White House called on Hollywood to PUNISH and condemn him

    • A White House official condemned Johnny Depp for comments he made about the assassination of President Trump on Thursday
    • 'I hope Depp's colleagues will speak out against this type of rhetoric as strongly as they would if his comments were directed to a Democrat,' said an official
    • The official also stated: 'President Trump has condemned violence in all forms and it's sad that others like Johnny Depp have not followed his lead'
    • Sean Spicer also spoke about Depp's comment at the White House press briefing
    • Depp was at the Glastonbury Festival in England on Thursday when he said: 'When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?'
    • The Secret Service would not say if Depp was under investigation at this time due to 'security reasons'
    • Depp meanwhile apologized on Friday a few hours after the White House put out their statement, saying he meant no malice with his joke

Not much of a fan of Trump but i wonder how many of these people would have been this vocal with a Hillary Presidency? I would imagine the reaction to be something like this:

There should be a thread dedicated to adding the names of actors and celebrities who have come out and said Trump should be assassinated. The list would help with knowing who's movies and productions to boycott.

Well if you talk about killing a President, is that construed as planning or advocating sedition, such as attempting to or advising people to overthrow a legitimate government or planning to overthrow a legitimate government by killing members of a legitimate government. There are traitors inside of the U.S. Government, there are criminals inside of the Government that should be tried in front of a Jury, and if convicted then imprisoned and stripped of their qualified immunity. Now that doesn't mean that we resort to violence. We can resolve it in a peaceful way as the U.S. Constitution has stated. There are civil ways to fight political corruption.

I just keep hearing "people" use the whole patriotism argument like they did after 9/11. I just think its stupid to argue over rhetoric. I think people are doing a disservice to this to make a fuss about this now, if something really truly happened it would be far too easy to make an emotional decision. I see every party licking their lips right now about how they are going to get to rebuild the government once it gets dismantled. We should be arguing about how we are not going to build up the government more when the people threaten the government. I don't want to rewrite the constitution, I want our $#@!ing government to follow it.

The biggest most expensive god damn military protecting him, you liberals $#@!ing try it, I dare you, lets see how much you like black prisons when your guys get sent there. There is no $#@!ing way the military industrial complex is letting someone kill Trump he just gave them a 300 billion dollar deal with the Saudi Government.
