Confirmed: The Donetsk People’s Republic Seeks to Join the Russian Federation

Speaking at a press conference during a meeting with Russian politicians, Zakharchenko said,

“We have only one goal, returning to the homeland”.

The Donetsk leader spoke fondly of Russia and reminded his audience that the people of Donbass are Russian and always have been. Today, only a war and legal technicalities stand in the way of the inevitable. There are many hurdles yet to jump, but Donbass is on its way home.

I do not think this will happen...
though Zakharchenko & DNR have been wanting this
since their declaration.

Crimea was a strategic exception and to ignore/reject the referendum
would have been abandoning a vital economic/military port that had been home
to ten's of thousands of Russian naval troops for decades.

Donbass serves better as an independent buffer against Western aggression.
As we have all witnessed... proxiis have proved their purpose in today's world.
Donbass enjoys freedom of cross border travel, currency agreements, economic trade
rail transport and power from the Russian grid now.

Russia will be patient (imo).
Like Transnistria declaring/enjoying with Russia
a 'protectorate' status for many years against
NATO manipulated Moldova....
it has finally turned around with Moldovan people
rejecting the NATO puppet masters and voting in
a President rejecting the NATO 'exercises'
and who seeks renewed friendship with the Ru Federation.
Transnistria and Moldovans have already begun to heal wounds.

The same will happen to Ukraine.
They will fall on their face. Soon.
