If you all paid a shred of attention to the DeVos hearings, you will see that so-called education is about law enforcement, not educating. This is why the Dept of Ed should be the first dept on the chopping block. I don't know that it would change drug raids like this one, but it would definitely put the school strictly into the hands of local people.

Truer words...
† This is the good news in the bad.Cops Detain Entire School, Illegally Search/Grope 900 Kids — Find NOTHING†, Parents Furious††
†† Oh look everybody, I'm so outraged. Whoopdie foiggin' doo.
Did a single child use his cell phone for more than texting pornographic suggestions to the object of his nightly hack-sessions? Did a single child use his apparently atrophied brain for more than a hat rack?On April 14, when the students of Worth County High School returned from spring break, they arrived at school to find a police state had taken over. The sheriff and his deputies — with no probable cause — detained and illegally searched every single child in the school, all 900 of them.
Thought so.
Well gee, I'm so impressed with the noble parents. When kids went home that day to tell their parents what happened, naturally, they were furious as it is a gross violation of the children’s 4th Amendment rights.
It's also 900 dull-witted students never given the sense to leave the area, to openly refuse to cooperate, to call parents ON THE SPOT. It's 900 sets of parents who failed their children utterly by placing them in public schools in the first place, their trust in the "state", and who so spectacularly failed to teach and train their children about rights, basic sense, an attitude of rebellion against such actions, and how do deal with such when it occurs.“It’s essentially a fourth amendment violation,” said attorney Mark Begnaud. “It’s 900 illegal searches, suspicion-less pat downs, suspicion-less searches.”
Naturally, Sheriff Jeff Hobby is standing by this rights violation on a massive scale, noting that as long as a school administrator was present, the search of the children was legal.
FAIL^FAIL <-- That's a FAIL-plex
So what? There is plenty of disagreement across the land, and yet we remain quiescent in the face of violations that should have resulted in hangings and slit throats many decades ago. The American people are FAIL. Pure, utter, FAIL, who deserve every outrage perpetrated against them until such time as they come together and put this sort of thing to its just and proper ends, regardless of the cost.Apparently, in the sheriff’s mind, school administrators can usurp the constitutional rights of children in favor of unlawful police searches.
But school officials and the student rule book disagree.
Don't hold your breath there.
All of which are items that fall under statute and not Law. Statute = mala prohibita = no Law at all = FAILIn the student handbook, it says school officials may search a student only if there is reasonable suspicion the student has an illegal item.
And so where were the "school officials" and their attorney when all this was happening, hiding under their desks in the midst of the world's longest duck and cover drill? As WALB reports, Worth County Schools attorney Tommy Coleman said in order for the Sheriff’s office to search any students, they’d had to have reason to believe there was some kind of criminal activity or the student had possession of contraband or drugs.
He said after the fact that those who are explicitly charged with the safety and wellbeing of the students during school hours failed to take any positive action to do so in the face of this absurd and outrageous violation. Thus far I see no indication otherwise.“If you don’t have that then this search would violate an individual’s rights,” said Coleman. “[It] violates the constitutional right and enforcing them the right against unreasonable search and seizures.”
This is not the tone I'd be looking for in such an individual. I'd be wanting to hear a call for the immediate dethroning, arrest, and charging of the sheriff and every deputy that participated in this debacle. Barring that, I'd be calling for the same for the superintendent.Interim Worth County Superintendent Lawrence Walters said he understands parents concerns about the drug search at Worth County High school on Friday, according to WALB.
Trained to be a milquetoast pussy, and that's the best one can say about him. Worse, and perhaps more likely, he is a co-conspirator in an operation that just happened to get the most potentially unfortunate kind of public attention. Oh wait, AmeriKa... never mind.“I’ve never been involved with anything like that ever in the past 21 years and I don’t condone it,” said Walters.
More of the same, leading me to wonder:Walters said he was notified that there was be a search but pointed out that he did not give permission nor did he approve the mass groping of children.
“We did not give permission but they didn’t ask for permission, he just said, the sheriff, that he was going to do it after spring break,” said Walters.
What AF wrote.(So why the $#@! didn't you immediately get on the phone with the town council, mayor and the town's legal dept. to stop him? - AF)
Ah... the smell of CYA in the morning... it smell like... FAIL.“Under no circumstances did we approve touching any students,” explained Walters.
Considered by whom? If the sheriff, has the deputy been fired and charged with sex crimes against a child? No? Huh...Adding insult to injury, many students complained that they got far more than just a pat down.
At least one deputy’s searches were found to be “too intrusive.”
According to Hobby, it was later discovered that one of the deputies had exceeded instructions given by Hobby and conducted a pat down of some students that was considered to be too intrusive.
Short of criminal charges leading to a twenty year sentence in general population for sexual abuse of a child, any "corrective action" is no correction at all. PERIOD.When multiple students complained about being groped by the intrusive deputy, Sheriff Hobby ensured parents and school officials that “corrective action was taken to make sure the behavior will not be repeated.”
Exactly who that cop was and what ‘corrective action’ was taken, remains a mystery.
And here, my dear friends, is a money shot with a big load blasted into the public eye as the well-trained-to-compliance milquetoast "man" sports his bright plumage as an apex example of deep and stomach-turning FAIL. He is the sort of "man" Theye have so tirelessly worked to produce by the tens of millions over the past 7 decades. Behold, perfection!“I’m okay with them doing the search, if it was done appropriately like the school has done in the past,” said father of two Jonathan Luke. “But when they put their hands on my son, that’s crossing the line.”
I like your allusion to the old National Lampoon treatment of Jimmy Carter... "I just want to put in the head". You're an idiot, but you're OUR idiot.(And that's why this happened Jon...because people like you were OK with just the head being stuck in. You allow that and you're gonna get a full shafted pounding...assenhole. - AF)
Holy hell... so this isn't the first time. How charming, the parents who did nothing then, either.Aside from not finding a single bit of contraband, the sheriff’s search was also entirely uncalled for as the Sylvester Police Department did a search on March 17 — just a few weeks before — and found no drugs.
I have no sympathy for any of them. In fact, I hope the cops and sheriff do it again and again. Let them either be saddle-broke or let them stand like real men and put it to ends. Hope the saddles have good blankets, at least.
Thank God the officers weren't harmed. They risk so much just for our safety, you know...As for the 900 counts of deprivation of rights under the color of law that the sheriff should be facing, not a single charge has been levied against the department.
Guns. Lots of guns. Tons of tyranny, and yet those guns and their owners remain silent in the face of it.
Any of you who think this is going to end well are fooling yourselves. Move to NH. Build a bunker. None of it is likely to make the least difference in the end because Theye have perhaps one million men who are trained to respond to central authority in a more or less predictable manner. Compare that with an impossibly well armed populace who refuses or otherwise fails to respond rationally in even the more egregious cases (old Kelly did it to himself...), and one cannot reasonably conclude that one day the "left" and the "right", as well as busy soccer moms and executive dads are going to suddenly come to unitary solidity on a common set of principles such as those of proper human relations and take matters into their own and rightful hands to set the land to rights. Not going to happen. That, BTW, is more a taunt than a prediction. I am taking a gigantic crap on the heads of every ultra-phag AmeriKan who talks a good game from his armchair. You will sit and take it in any orifice Theye or their instruments choose to put it and you will smile meekly and even one day learn to like the feel and the taste of it. You will come to crave the action in what will otherwise be the intolerably sterile lives with which you have been graced by Themme. You will not retain so much of your humanity that you will have even the sense to wish for the courage to bring your existences to an end. All you will be able to do is sit and wait for the signal that got Pavlov's canines salivating, telling you the Great Big One is about to make a visit, that being the only joy you will ever know in your miserable "lives".
Freedom is gone, guys.
Get used to it.
I, OTOH, have no intentions of following suit. But then, I never had any sense to begin with.

Worth Co. sheriff defends controversial school search
http://www.walb.com/story/35168276/w...-school-search...
Worth Co. Sheriff Jeff Hobby declined to go on camera, but talked about the search in a telephone interview.
The sheriff requested drug-sniffing dogs from the state, and the Crisp County Sheriff sent K-9 units.
When asked about the pat down of students, and the notion of probable cause, Hobby said that as long as a school administrator was present, the personal search of the children was legal.
Tommy Coleman, attorney for the Worth County School Board, responded to Hobby's statement.
Coleman clarified that those conducting the search would need particular circumstances or facts to justify it.
The Sylvester Police Department did a search on March 17, and found no drugs.
When asked about that previous search that came up dry, Hobby said he didn't think that search was thorough, so he decided to do his own.
He said he believes there are drugs at the high school and the middle school, but also said that he will not do another search, due to response from community.
He said he he felt the search was necessary.
At the end of March 11 people and several juveniles were taken into custody for a series of burglaries on Woodcrest Road. He road during those investigations, Worth County investigators found evidence there were drug activities going on at school.
Drugs dogs led officers to one car, which yielded nothing.
Interim Worth County Superintendent Lawrence Walters said he understands parents concerns about the drug search at Worth County High school on Friday.
"I've never been involved with anything like that ever in the past 21 years and I don't condone it," said Walters.
Walters said in March Sheriff Jeff Hobby told him his department was going to do a drug search at the school after spring break.
"We did not give permission but they didn't as for permission, he just said, the sheriff, that he was going to do it after spring break," said Walters.
Walters assumed the search would be similar to ones he had seen in his 40 plus years in education.
From his experiences, the way Friday's search was done unusual.
"Under no circumstances did we approve touching any students," explained Walters.
Walters said K9's were brought in. Then, each student was pat down by deputies.
Parents said the same thing. Many claim their students were patted down aggressively.
In the student handbook it says school officials may search a student if there is reasonable suspicion the student has an illegal item. Hobby says he was able to search every student, simply because he had an administrator with him.
Worth County Schools attorney Tommy Coleman said in order for the Sheriff's office to search any students, they'd had to have reason to believe there was some kind of criminal activity or the student had possession of contraband or drugs.
"If you don't have that then this search would violate an individuals rights," said Coleman. "[It] violates the constitutional right and enforcing them the right against unreasonable search and seizures."
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Anti Federalist again.
Let's see. Last time I checked, sheriff was an elected position. When is this jackass up for re-election? Are the parents of these 900 students going to actually do something about it, or chalk it up to "living in 'Meriku?"

Students Sue After Entire High School Illegally Groped and Molested by Cops
http://thefreethoughtproject.com/stu...ested-by-cops/
Police groped student's breasts, genitals, and publicly humiliated them all in an illegal and fruitless raid of an entire high school. Now, furious parents and students have filed a class action lawsuit against the sheriff's department, making some damning accusations along the way.
By Matt Agorist - June 4, 2017
Worth County, GA — Violated children and furious parents have just filed a massive lawsuit after the Worth County Sheriff’s office conducted an illegal search of 900 students — in the name of the war on drugs. The rights-violating intrusive and aggressive patdowns and drug dog searches at the school yielded absolutely nothing.
An Atlanta attorney is now representing multiple students who were subjected to invasive and outright horrifying body searches during a mass — and warrantless — search for drugs at a South Georgia high school. Attorney Mark Begnaud, who filed the class-action lawsuit, called out the sheriff for conducting “900 illegal, suspicionless searches.”
“This was a textbook definition of overreach,” said Begnaud. “They pulled 900 students out of class. They did full, hands-on body searches.”
To highlight the sheer unnecessary police state tactics of the tyrannical Worth County Sheriff Jeff Hobby and his deputies — not a single bit of contraband was found.
According to Begnaud, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has now opened an investigation into the incident. However, no charges have been made.
As the Daily Report notes, Begnaud said the suit seeks certification as a class action on behalf of every student who was searched. It also asks for unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, as well as a declaratory judgment that a law enforcement officer violates a student’s constitutional rights when he conducts a body search absent either voluntary consent or an individualized suspicion that the student has broken the law. The case has been assigned to U.S. District Judge Leslie Abrams.
On April 14, when the students of Worth County High School returned from spring break, they arrived at school to find a police state had taken over. The sheriff and his deputies — with no probable cause — detained and illegally searched every single child in the school, all 900 of them. More than 40 cops from five other law enforcement agencies participated in the raid.

Worth Grand Jury returns six indictments after controversial school search

WORTH CO., GA (WALB) - The Worth County Sheriff and two of his deputies are now facing charges, stemming from a controversial drug search the office conducted at Worth Co. High School in April of 2017.
A Worth County Grand jury returned six true bills late Tuesday night.
Worth County Sheriff Jeff Hobby is being charged with violation of oath by a public officer, two counts of false imprisonment under color of law and one count of sexual battery.
The indictment says the Sheriff violated the terms of his oath by ordering deputies to search students at Worth County High School on April 14, 2017 without probable cause or any other legal basis and without due process.
It goes on to say that he and one of his deputies intentionally made physical contact with intimate parts of a male student’s body by touching the student’s groin.

It is not a great indicator when 24 counts were dismissed and 6 tabled.
This tells me that the gj was cool with the idea of an unwarranted search.
