Trump: If court rules against travel ban, we'll never be safe

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that a federal court ruling against his executive order will cost the nation “the security and safety to which we are entitled.”

Lawyers for the Department of Justice on Tuesday sought to stay a nationwide block of key components of Trump’s controversial order banning individuals from seven majority-Muslim nations from entering the U.S. That block was put in place by a federal judge in Seattle, and the three-judge panel from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals seemed skeptical of the government’s argument to undo it.

The appeals court did not issue a ruling Tuesday but one of the three judges said it would act “as soon as possible.”

“If the U.S. does not win this case as it so obviously should, we can never have the security and safety to which we are entitled. Politics!” Trump wrote on Twitter Wednesday morning.

It is not the first time that the president has lashed out at the judicial branch for standing in his way. On Saturday, Trump referred to U.S. District Court Judge James Robart, the Seattle judge who initially blocked the president’s order, as a “so-called judge” and called his order “terrible” and “ridiculous” in a series of posts to Twitter.

He followed that on Sunday with more posts to his preferred social media account, writing that “The judge opens up our country to potential terrorists and others that do not have our best interests at heart. Bad people are very happy!”

“Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system. People pouring in. Bad!” Trump continued.

“I don’t think that there will be any curtailing of Donald Trump as president,” he said. "He controls the media, he controls the sentiment [and] he controls everybody. He’s the one who will resort to executive orders more so than [President] Obama ever used them." - Ron Paul

Oh there is no doubt the way the battle lines are drawn, if Trump wins, the courts have handed the president a huge increase in power, in a non declared war.

Supreme Court nominee Gorsuch says Trump’s attacks on judiciary are ‘demoralizing’

President Trump’s escalating attacks on the judicial branch drew denunciation Wednesday from his Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch, who told lawmakers that the attacks were “demoralizing” and “disheartening” to the independence of the federal courts.

“I told him how abhorrent Donald Trump’s invective and insults are towards the judiciary. And he said to me that he found them ‘disheartening’ and ‘demoralizing’ – his words,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D- Conn.) said in an interview.

Gorsuch “stated very emotionally and strongly his belief in his fellow judges’ integrity and the principle of judicial independence,” he added. “And I made clear to him that that belief requires him to be stronger and more explicit, more public in his views.”

Gorsuch’s comments to Blumenthal were confirmed by Ron Bonjean, a member of the judge’s group of aides tasked with helping him navigate the confirmation process.

Trump has been on a days-long crusade against the judicial branch after a Seattle judge halted his controversial executive order temporarily halting the U.S. refu*gee program and barring entry from seven predominantly Muslim countries. A three-judge panel in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is currently deliberating on whether Trump’s executive order should be allowed to continue.

Trump has personally attacked the judge in the case and has suggested that the courts should be blamed if there is a terrorist attack. Gorsuch’s public condemnation of Trump’s tone highlights the degree to which the issue had become an obstacle to his confirmation, especially given the concern many Democrats already have about easily confirming Trump’s pick to the high court.
Trump likes to attack anybody who may stand in the way of his getting what he wants. He throws a tantrum if he doesn't get his way. A dangerous tendency for a President.

Any time anybody attacks the "Just-Us" system it's a good thing!

Sad thing is he'll be kissing their collective ass and doling out praise next week...

How many terror attacks has Japan suffered in the last 100 years because they did not stick their D into the middle east and have a very, very, tiny muslim population?

Just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. If something happens blame him and court system.
Contemplate what he'll do when something does happen.

Counter argument: China has a HUGE Muslim population and how many "Islamic" terror attacks happen there? None. The only places they seem to have anything even resembling such is in Xinjiang, the autonomous region of northwest China populated mainly by the Uyghurs, a Turkic people. And those were carried out by Uyghur separatists who want to form their own nation instead of being occupied by foreigners.

It isn't the size of the Muslim population that causes terrorism. It is the dominance of a minority people by a larger militant force that inspires terrorism.

Are you ever interested in actual discussion and not your sole purpose of posting contrary info?

I like seeing the courts butt heads with the executive branch. Congress is totally emasculated, so judicial vs. executive is the only check/balance you're going to get.
Partisan politics, misleading or emotional bill titles, and 4D chess theories are manifestations of the same lie—that the text of the Constitution, the text of legislation, and plain facts do not matter; what matters is what you want to believe. From this comes hypocrisy. And where hypocrisy thrives, virtue recedes. Without virtue, liberty dies. - Justin Amash, March 2018

Somebody has to. Though Trump would like to pull a Roosevelt and try to pack the courts with judges who would also rubberstamp everything the way he wants it done. Republicans in congress don't necessarily agree with Trump on everything but they are afraid of his supporters turning against them in the next election so they will go along.
