Turkey’s President Erdogan Accuses U.S. Coalition of Supporting ISIS

    By Jack Moore On 12/28/16

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday accused the U.S.-led coalition fighting in in Iraq and Syria of supporting the Islamic State militant group (ISIS), as well as Syrian Kurds in regions that sit along Turkey’s southern border.
“They were accusing us of supporting Daesh,” he told a press conference in Ankara, using an Arabic acronym for ISIS.
“Now they give support to terrorist groups including Daesh, YPG, PYD. It's very clear. We have confirmed evidence, with pictures, photos and videos,” he said, referring to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units and the Democratic Union Party, Washington’s Kurdish partners on the ground in Syria.

The U.S.-led coalition has conducted an airstrike campaign against ISIS in Iraq and Syria since August 2014, following the radical Islamist group’s capture of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul in June of that year and its filmed beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley near the Syrian city of Raqqa. No one from the coalition has yet responded to Erdogan’s comments.

Isn't Newsweek supposed to be one of those "fake news" sites?

Turkey vote brings President Recep Tayyip Erdogan a step closer to increased executive power

The Turkish parliament has voted to advance a bill on constitutional reform that would allow sitting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to stay in office until 2029.

Under the proposed far-reaching changes to the executive branch of government, the power to appoint and dismiss government ministers would become the purview of the president rather than the prime minister.

The reform would also allow Mr Erdogan to become leader of the ruling party while in office again, and possibly stay in power for another 12 years.

At Monday's debate on the lengthy bill, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said the reform would “resolve the problem of Turkey having two executive authorities.”

“There needs to be one authority in the executive branch,” he said. “Two captains sink the ship, there needs to be one captain.”

Mr Erdogan’s ruling AK party argues that Turkey’s current fragile security situation needs strong leadership, but opponents have already voiced fears about the authoritarian nature of the bill.

The reform legislation must be supported by at least 330 of the 550 members of the assembly to go to a nationwide referendum, expected in the spring.

How do you use an Arabic acronym in speech? Have we done any market research in the region?

Uhm. That was Russia bombing the crap out of what was once a beautiful city.

Here is Russian media claiming the US was responsible: http://www.pravdareport.com/news/hot..._usa_aleppo-0/

Russia accuses USA of bombing Syria's Aleppo

The Russian aircraft did not bomb any targets in the city of Aleppo, contrary to statements from Western officials, an official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Igor Konashenkov said. According to him, it was US aircraft attack aircraft A-10 that bombed Aleppo. - See more at: http://www.pravdareport.com/news/hot....SuVga74R.dpuf

Um that was Washington that funded and armed terrorists groups that invaded and took Aleppo and held it hostage until it was liberated. If it weren't for Washington there never would have been a battle of Aleppo. And it was Washington that funded and armed the jihadists in Libya that initially formed ISIS, and Washington that imported and armed and trained the "moderate" jihadists into Syria to destroy the nation, and Washington that funded and armed the "moderate" terrorists in Syria from which ISIS gained a steady supply of recruits and weapons and supplies, and it was Washington that illegally bombed Syria in a manner that never seemed to do any real damage to ISIS but instead maintained a buffer zone that protected ISIS and the "moderate" rebels from the Syrian army prolonging the war, and ....

Four-fifths of Russia's Syria strikes don't target Islamic State: Reuters analysis

Almost 80 percent of Russia's declared targets in Syria have been in areas not held by Islamic State, a Reuters analysis of Russian Defence Ministry data shows, undermining Moscow's assertions that its aim is to defeat the group.

The majority of strikes, according to the analysis, have instead been in areas held by other groups opposed to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, which include al Qaeda offshoots but also fighters backed by Washington and its allies.

Defence ministry statements of targets hit by the Russian Air Force and an online archive of Russian military maps show Russia has hit 64 named locations since President Vladimir Putin ordered the first round of air strikes three weeks ago.

Of those targets, a maximum of 15 were in areas held by Islamic State, according to a survey of locations of the rival forces in Syria compiled by the Institute for the Study of War.

"If you look at the map, you can easily understand that they are not fighting Islamic State but other opposition groups," said Alexander Golts, a Moscow-based defense columnist and deputy editor of online newspaper Yezhednevny Zhurnal.

If Washington does not like the consequences of its terrible interventionist policies, its should stop taking those bad actions.

Regardless of what you think of Russia's actions in Syria [which by the way have been 1000 fold more effective at defeating ISIS and other terrorists groups than Washington], A) Syria would never have invited and Russia would never have been involved had Washington not fostered the terrorist coup to try an overthrow the Syria's government in the first place. Washington is responsible for the consequences of its actions; and B) Russia's actions are fully legal at the invitation of and on behalf of Syria, unlike the Washington' actions in violation of national sovereignty and international law.

Is that sentence difficult for you to comprehend or something? ISIS/AQ/'Allies' are all in the same boat.
