Bannon's doing that - blowing up corporatist elite - by rallying the Teamsters? Reagan's handlers did rally the Teamsters, but Senator AuH2O wanted to scatter Big Labor.

Bannon is attempting to disrupt and scuttle the lobbyist domination of U.S. Senate. The democrats cannot be adequately combated until the GOP is purified and retooled (if that's even possible). Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and the various leadership underlings don't want to roll back gains made by the corporatist progressive machine. The current incarnation of the GOP has no concerns about the dissolution of the middle class nor the engineered ethnic replacement that is underway.

    About this..

In the last few years, I've been seeing a lot more of this stuff in allegedly conservative circles.

The radical left here and in Europe have been calling for central banks to be "nationalized" (a misleading term, as these are already government agencies) for years. They want to put the central banks under the direct supervision of national legislatures. They say this is about "taking power from the capitalists and giving it back to the people." Of course, it's really about putting the printing press in the hands of persons more inclined to use it to finance additional welfare spending.

Now we're seeing the same thing in the "alt right," in both the US and Europe, except the slogan is "take the power from the globalists and give it back to the [insert national adjective] people." The National Front, for instance, wants to resurrect the French central bank to "fight the globalists in Brussels": i.e. print a whole lot more money than the Germans are inclined to let the ECB print to buy French bonds.

Every day I think things look more like the 1930s..

MAGA is just corporatism in the tradition of Reagan's Contract with America. Outrage on the part of True Believers isn't reversing the progs' gains but a ratcheting down. Bannon's controlled opposition, although I'm sure he believes he's some kind of underdog.

What is it with the delusions that:

    A) Nationalists are opposed to globalism? Nation-states are the foundation of the Global-state.

    and

    B) That nationalism, even if opposed to globalism (lets assume) is actually any better.

Indeed, if history is any indicator nationalism will more quickly secure absolute tyrannical power over a people more quickly and more easily than globalists. Even the truly globalist causes, such as Communism and Socialism, must always devolve into nationalism in order to survive (think of Stalin turning from Lenin's internationalist Communist revolution to "Communism in one country" or Mao's Chinese Cultural Revolution or really any other Communist country). This whole "nationalism is better than globalism" trend is just as deceptive and fallacious as the "Left v. Right" divide in politics.

You realize what you just described is a perfect summary of Audit the Fed, right? Your last sentence is one explanation as to why Audit the Fed is bad idea. There are other reasons why like inflation will almost certainly be higher the more oversight Congress has over monetary policy.

The goal of Audit The Fed, for Ron and other libertarians, has always been to bolster the case for abolition, not "nationalization." There's a risk that leftists who want "nationalization" could hijack an audit for that purpose, but it's a risk worth taking IMO.

I get that is the goal. And certainly a good goal. But the empirical results are the more independent central banks are of the legislature the lower the inflation rate in that country. It makes sense that politicians would push for higher inflation.

    http://www.econ.ucdenver.edu/smith/e...erformance.pdf

"THE DEGREE OF CENTRAL BANK INDEPENDENCE varies considerably across countries. Several authors including Bade and Parkin (1982), Alesina(1988, 1989), and Grilli, Masciandaro, and Tabellini (1991) found that more independent central banks are associated with lower levels of inflation."

    I'm not denying that.

Bannon is a disciple of Rene Guenon more than any type of Hamiltonian.

Hamilton was a Big Central Gov/Banking elite.

The Constitution was actually a Hamiltonian coup to establish exactly that- and it has worked beautifully.

Bannon's first priority is to unseat the permanent political class in Washington. Nothing else (of significant consequence) can be achieved until that goal is accomplished.
    1. Don't lie.
    2. Don't cheat.
    3. Don't steal.
    4. Don't kill.
    5. Don't commit adultery.
    6. Don't covet what your neighbor has, especially his wife.
    7. Honor your father and mother.
    8. Remember the Sabbath and keep it Holy.
    9. Don’t use your Higher Power's name in vain, or anyone else's.
    10. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
