Dallas City Council Bans Smoking In Public Parks

    http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2016/11/09/d...-public-parks/

Smokers won’t be allowed to light up anymore in Dallas city parks starting March 1, 2017.

The Dallas City Council voted 8-6 for the ban with exceptions for golf courses, the Elm Fork Shooting Range and park events in leased space like the State Fair of Texas.

Councilman Phillip Kingston was one in favor of a total ban.

“It is a public health issue. If you have never seen someone die of lung cancer, then you’re blessed. And to the extent that we can put an end to it, then we really need to,” said Kingston.

He said the city has tried a smoking ban before.

“None of the doomsday predictions that the restaurant and bar owners made at that time, came to pass. There was no drop off in business. If anything, we have seen nothing but public health benefit,” said Kingston.

The future Trinity River Park will be allowed an exception as well. The State Fair and Dallas Arboretum will set their own smoking rules.

Actually , around here bars and restaurant's did get a drop off in the places where there is a ban , the municipalities connected that did not got an uptick. It is like when I used to drive down south quite a bit . You hit a County line an , boom , big liquor store . The county you just drove through was a dry county. All that money just leaves that county.
    Do something Danke

The sooner the city of Dallas dies, the better. The council is too stupid to run a hot dog stand.
Out of every one hundred men they send us, ten should not even be here. Eighty will do nothing but serve as targets for the enemy. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, upon them depends our success in battle. But one, ah the one, he is a real warrior, and he will bring the others back from battle alive.

Duty is the most sublime word in the English language. Do your duty in all things. You can not do more than your duty. You should never wish to do less than your duty.

This Kingston fella should be deported to NYC. He'd fit in there like a penis in a custom made condom, albeit an impossibly SMALL one.

There is only one correct way: freedom. All other solutions are non-solutions.

It appears that artificial intelligence is at least slightly superior to natural stupidity.

Convincing the world he didn't exist was the Devil's second greatest trick; the first was convincing us that God didn't exist.

Does Dallas allow open carry? Seriously, if the only place you can smoke in the "great outdoors" becomes a non-smoking zone then you probably need to relocate.

I see bans coming to state/national parks. All these wildfires that started in the S.E. this summer, if they can impugn smoking as the cause, then I can see that course for the smoke Nazi's.

Gonna be tough to enforce a law like that, with all their their cops quiting.

Dallas Police Association President Mike Mata and others sounded the alarm months ago: Now, by the end of this month, Mata says 72 Dallas Police officers will leave: 70 percent of them are retiring and the other 30 percent are going to make more money at other departments. “We’re losing some of our most experienced detectives: The investigator you want to come out and solve that homicide, that you need to come out and solve that sexual assault.”

Adam McGough, chairman of the Dallas city council’s public safety committee, is also expressing concern. “That’s the first of this number I heard of it. Anytime we have large numbers of officers leaving, it’s concerning.”...
