Trump Posts Facebook Pledge to 'Reject Bigotry and Hatred and Oppression in All Its Forms'

Donald Trump has posted a pledge on his Facebook page promising to "reject bigotry and hatred and oppression in all its forms" and promote equality for all Americans.

Trump has drawn fire for numerous comments, including calling Mexican immigrants rapists, calling for a ban on Muslim immigration to the United States and saying that a federal judge who is of Mexican descent couldn't be impartial in a case involving him because of his heritage.

Just yesterday, Trump proposed "extreme vetting" to screen immigrants coming into the United States.

“We should only admit into this country those who share our values and respect our people,” Trump said during the rally in Youngstown, Ohio. “The time is overdue to develop a new screening test for the threats we face today."

Specifically, he proposed "screen[ing] out any who have hostile attitudes toward our country or its principles or who believe that Sharia law should supplant American law."

Hillary Clinton's team took issue with the proposal, calling it a "cynical ploy to escape scrutiny of his outrageous proposal to ban an entire religion from our country and no one should fall for it."

“I don’t think that there will be any curtailing of Donald Trump as president,” he said. "He controls the media, he controls the sentiment [and] he controls everybody. He’s the one who will resort to executive orders more so than [President] Obama ever used them." - Ron Paul

Is anyone taking this seriously at this point? I need time to collect my thoughts, as I can't come up with a coherent response to point out the sheer hypocrisy in such a statement coming from Trump.

You mean you need time to make $#@! up since there is nothing Trump has said that is even remotely bigoted.

Unbelievable people here are approving of the same tactics that were used to take out Ron in 2008/2012. The hypocrisy is astounding.
    * See my visitor message area for caveats related to my posting history here.
    * Also, I have effectively retired from all social media including posting here and are basically opting out of anything to do with national politics or this country on federal or state level and rather focusing locally. I may stop by from time to time to discuss philosophy on a general level related to Libertarian schools of thought and application in the real world.

What the $#@! are you talking about?

The left is way more bigoted than Trump, in fact I don't know of any instances where Trump has been a bigot during his campaign.

The only possibly valid items in the list Ender posted was the ones about keeping blacks out of his housing and off his property, but I have no idea what his involvement in that was, it's possible, but it could also be propaganda with a decent explanation.

I have seen this crap set of links copy/pasted on a number of sites. I will started with the top few links, the ones where Trump did not want to rent to welfare recipients since he wants to rent to people that can pay on time. There was no admission or conviction and they worked out an agreement. That is not racism but rather a property owner making a sound business decision. Posting those links proves you have no respect for private property rights and therefore are a fraud.

The next bogus accusation uses a very long article since most people are not going to take the time to read to see the accusation does not even exist in the article. I have seen Trump and his wife move through the casino to the elevators many times years ago and saw no indication of that accusation. I along with all the other white people were motioned to clear a path by security. Nothing racist about that and no one has been able to confirm it. Again only proves your hatred of private property rights.

I watched the coverage myself along with everyone else I know here in NY. We all remember it and we all remember being outraged by it. Especially since many of us lost friends and loved ones then we see the video replayed over and over again of them celebrating. I think the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks.

I really can't believe on RPF we have people posting links in favor of racial hiring quotas. The answers however can be found in the article.

"Our obligation was to use our best-faith efforts to achieve hiring goals, which we have done, and not necessarily to hire a certain percentage," Pickus said. "Minorities and Gary residents are given a preference if everything else is equal, but if not enough qualified applicants apply, we're not going to hire nonqualified applicants."
Pickus said hiring statistics were still being compiled, but he added that a claim in the suit that only 20% of employes were minorities or Gary residents was "patently untrue.

" He also dismissed claims that African-American hiring has been limited to service jobs. He cited minority hirings in management positions such as the firm's chief financial officer and its head of human resources as well as dealers and casino cage managers. .....He also said casino personnel had hinted it was hard to hire Gary residents because gaming employes can't have police records and have to pass drug tests
Trump was asked about replacing TSA's 'heebeejabis' with veterans
I agree with Trump we should be looking at who we hire at TSA. He did not use the term the supporter did.

Trump responded to accusations of racism by hiring a former aid for Joseph McCarthy to sue the government for half a billion dollars.

I'll just answer the one about the Central Park 5- already posted how they were coerced into confessions and how they have a program to help others who may be victimized by false accusations.

    And this:

Donald Trump’s widely discredited claim that Muslims in New Jersey were seen on TV cheering the 9/11 terrorist attacks — and Ben Carson’s initial support of Trump’s remarks — has resulted in even more false claims, as both candidates try to explain their statements:

Trump doubled down on his false claim that he saw on TV “thousands and thousands” of Muslims cheering in New Jersey. He demanded an apology and cited as his support one news story about an alleged incident that was unattributed, unverified and not televised.
Carson later clarified his remarks about 9/11, saying he was talking about news footage of Muslims celebrating overseas, not in New Jersey, and blaming the media for having an “agenda.” He’s revising history. He was asked twice if what he saw was in New Jersey, and he said “yes” both times.

It was in a Nov. 21 speech in Alabama that Trump first made his claim about Muslims in New Jersey celebrating the fall of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate, told his audience: “Hey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering. So something’s going on. We’ve got to find out what it is.”

A day later, on ABC’s “This Week,” Trump insisted: “It did happen. I saw it. It was on television. I saw it. There were people that were cheering on the other side of New Jersey, where you have large Arab populations. They were cheering as the World Trade Center came down.”

There is no evidence, as others have pointed out, that thousands of people in New Jersey cheered the attacks on 9/11.
    There is no spoon.

There was no way to tell how many were celebrating from the video so Trump saying thousands could be an exaggeration. Maybe there were considering the amount of Muslims in that area. Regardless it is a non-issue since the millions who watch the local news here saw them celebrating.

The videos I remember of people celebrating were Palestinians (the infamous tongue woman), not locals. However, as someone who was a NYer at the time, there was tons of rumors of muslims celebrating either in front of mosques or in parking lots of businesses owned by muslims. All of these rumors were of the "I know someone whose cousin's girlfriend saw muslims dancing", etc but no one actually saw it themselves. Most likely it was to fuel anger and get people to no longer support the businesses. So Trump didn't pull this out of his ass, but he probably should not run around talking about it as if it is fact either.

I saw that video to, I was speaking specifically of the videos showing those celebrating in and around the city, the Jersey City video for example. Bernard Kerik and Guliani are in the video above confirming the celebrations in and around the city. There are more videos of people claiming to have witnessed it first hand on youtube.

I watched coverage day and night waiting to hear about survivors, since three of my friends were unfortunately were in there and not once did I see any video of people celebrating in and around NYC. Also, forgive me if the words of Giuliani and Kerik mean nothing to me. Where is this video of people celebrating in Jersey City? Again, lots of people claimed lots of things, but I didn't see anyone offering proof. It was crazy in the NYC area around then. Impossible to describe if you weren't there. There were rumors of people in Brooklyn going around randomly shooting muslims in the head, which turned out to also be nonsense.

Those working at WPIX, WWOR and WNYW may know what happened to the video or wherever they got the pool videos. So you missed the local NYC coverage I and others saw and because of that it did not happen in your eyes while you refuse to acknowledge the video above or first hand accounts posted on youtube.

Don't know how I missed it. Like I said, I was watching the news every single night for quite a while. Yes, PIX, WOR, etc. I didn't refuse to acknowledge the video above. And I am not saying it didn't happen. But I kind of usually like to have this silly thing called proof. And if Trump himself cannot offer any proof, you know the media is going to make it look like he is wacked and making $#@! up himself. You may not like the game, but he chose to play it, if he isn't part of it himself. We had cameras in Palestine to record people celebrating but not JC, or NYC?
