Default Dallas County Republican Party elects Phillip Huffines as new chairman

Dallas real estate developer Phillip Huffines on Monday was overwhelmingly elected chairman of the Dallas County Republican Party.

Huffines, twin brother of state Sen. Don Huffines, beat Plano immigration lawyer Elizabeth Bingham in a 120-26 vote. Coppell businessman Davin Bernstein received 12 votes.

"We can now declare, based on that vote, that the Dallas County Republican Party is now united," Huffines said after being sworn in. "We will now take the fight to Democrats."

Dallas Republicans had to pick a new leader after the resignation last month of tea party activist Mark Montgomery, who stunned incumbent Wade Emmert in the March 1 primary to win the post. But Montgomery, an unknown to establishment Republicans and donors, could not raise the cash necessary to keep the office open or mount a countywide campaign against Democrats.

At the time of Montgomery's resignation, the party had only $180 in the bank.

Montgomery's win highlighted a growing divide in local Republican politics. Insurgents had scored a victory with his win, but the establishment still controlled the party apparatus.

Some elected officials are worried that Phillip Huffines will use the party to benefit his brother, who has actively supported challengers against several incumbents in the GOP primary.

I understand Don's a good liberty guy. Don't know about his brother, but it sounds positive.
Partisan politics, misleading or emotional bill titles, and 4D chess theories are manifestations of the same lie—that the text of the Constitution, the text of legislation, and plain facts do not matter; what matters is what you want to believe. From this comes hypocrisy. And where hypocrisy thrives, virtue recedes. Without virtue, liberty dies. - Justin Amash, March 2018

They are twins and cut from the same cloth. Both donated to Ron and Rand, and boatloads to super PAC's.
