Libertarian Party Officially Recognized in OK… for now

Sorry folks, doesn't look like there's been many updates going on in this sub forum, not sure who all comes here anymore. But, I do think this is important information to have and while it's a number of months old, it's still necessary to get this out there.

After getting some 40,000 signatures approved by the state after a petition was passed around, the Libertarian party is officially recognized. There will be a number of candidates running throughout the state, plus Gary Johnson should be on the ballot!
That's the caveat, however. Gary Johnson will need to pull at least 2.5% of the vote in order for the Libertarian party to be officially recognized for at least the next four years (I think).

So, spread and pass it around… Good things to come with effort and the fights are still being fought!

    Onward!

Some "potpourri" as Tom Woods would say.
The Libertarian Party was able to procure nearly 6% of the popular vote in Oklahoma during the election. This was over double the 2.5% threshold and will now allow the party to have automatic ballot access and access to funding for the next two years.

From the Red Dirt Report link below:

(Full credit to the writer Heide Brandes for the quoted section below)

"Now, the party will start to focus on the 2018 elections by selecting candidates for federal, state and local offices and for the governor’s seat. According to Oklahoma state law, the party’s gubernatorial candidate must also achieve at least 2.5 percent of the popular vote in 2018 for the party to retain ballot access for the 2020 presidential campaign."

Please get the word out to anyone disenfranchised or anyone who may not already be aware throughout Oklahoma or elsewhere that strides have been made, albeit perhaps temporarily. This needs to be one radars, especially gearing up for 2018!

The Oklahoma Libertarian Party has a website: http://oklp.org

You can read up on them there, become a registered "member" of the party (this does NOT change your political affiliation; you still have to do that through the state), and keep up on news.

Stay aware and don't become overly complacent.
