Thread: Hardly anybody wants to speak at Trump's convention

“I don’t think that there will be any curtailing of Donald Trump as president,” he said. "He controls the media, he controls the sentiment [and] he controls everybody. He’s the one who will resort to executive orders more so than [President] Obama ever used them." - Ron Paul

In recent years, I have complained about the sex hijinks of Gov. Sanford, Sen. Vitter and Speaker Hastert, and have actually corresponded with Monica Lewinsky (about her being shunned by Hillary over her scandal), so I have standing to complain about BC.

He's not going to speak anyway. I imagine the big name black speakers will be Ben Carson, Stacey Dash, and Don King. Throw in people like Clint Eastwood, Bobby Knight, Jack Nicklaus, Bruce Willis, Tom Brady, Roseann Barr, and Gary Busey and it will be the most watched Convention in the history of American politics.
Indeed, the lack of establishment hacks willing to speak at the con gives Trump the opportunity to pack the event with even more celebrities, or even ---gasp---regular people who support him.

Bobby Knight: "I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it."

Maybe someone should have suggested that to Bill Clinton's victims.

    Rosanne Barr ....

    and Gary Busey.....LOL

I doubt it will be the most watched but it will definitely be the most talked about after. After all, "anti-establishment" Trump gets the most MSM coverage of any candidate.
A sense of danger gives birth to fear. And fear is the time-honored cross for the crucifixion of liberty.

A common figure of speech. He was not talking about rape and the sad part is you probably knew that but are intentionally misrepresenting him anyway. Bobby Knight is an american icon and people would much rather here him speak that suffer through dumpy old Mitch McConnel or cucked out Paul Ryan.

It's not as common as you might believe (at least not in my circle, where decency prevails) ...and no, I didn't intentionally misrepresent him. I QUOTED him.

So, he wasn't talking about rape when he mentioned ..... rape. OK. Then maybe he shouldn't have used the rape metaphor.

I would speak but they would want to nominate me after my speach.

I'm thinking you don't quite grasp the purpose of a metaphor.

I'm thinking I do. I'm thinking YOU don't realize how offensive it is (unless Bill Clinton said it -- then you would), but I'm not surprised.

Your objection indicates you don't truly understand the purpose of a metaphor. Either that, or you were so "triggered" by the perceived "offensiveness" of the metaphor that you were unable to think clearly enough to make a rational argument.

Like I said, if have no notion of how "relax and enjoy it" is offensive with regard to rape, you're a stranger to decency. There are better metaphors to use for whatever point he was trying to get across. It wouldn't trigger me, but it might trigger rape victims....but being a stranger to decency, you probably wouldn't understand that.

Creepy looking Bill has 20 women accuse him.

Cruz on the campaign trail was enough policy & conservatism rhetoric.

Rand's filibuster was enough. We dont need to see reruns.

It was like pulling teeth to get any press about grassroots delegates in 2012, this time they are front page everywhere.

Wow, LE. Just, wow. No, I don't need a safe space. Since that's how you feel, if you ever get raped, I hope you relax and enjoy it.
