    Criticize my Writing

Just a quick note, I'm new to the forums (I guess that is obvious by my post count) so I'm not sure but I hope this is the right place for this? Apologies if it isn't

One of my passions has been writing articles about things that are on my mind. I was hoping that I could start writing for online publications in the future about relevant things, ie. politics, news, events and whatever. However, I'm unsure as how to go about this. I'm still a highschool student who doesn't fully understand the ropes of writing editorials and articles for publications. Frankly though, for now I just want the skills and experience, I'm not concerned with money. I simply want to have my opinions heard, promote discussion and develop argumentative/reasoning/logic skills within my writing.

However, what I do know for certain is that I need to improve my writing. I was thinking about starting a blog to practice writing about things basically for pleasure, but I have no motivation in doing so if I receive no feedback for my writing or don't provoke discussion. So to get to the point I'm driving at here, would it be acceptable for me to post my writing and articles on the forum here, to receive criticism and feedback (I'm not afraid of criticism, it's the only thing that can make me improve, and therefore the most valuable asset I will have at this point) or provoke relevant discussions? I understand there are other forums on the internet for philosophy, etc. yet I feel as though the users of this forum are more likely to accept my opinions and work with me on them.

I'm not going to post any previous writing because I don't want to seem like I'm promoting myself. I see no benefit in creating an audience for myself anyways, I want to be a contributor for other platforms if possible, not start my own. Is my proposal stupid, or is it something that's allowed and encouraged?

Also, if anyone thinks they have information that would be useful to me, such as understanding the article writing ecosystem (I honestly have no idea how the business works), tips on being a contributor, getting experience, or other places online that would fit my needs I'd be ecstatic to hear. For example, to contribute to a site would you recommend me contact the owner of the blog or whatever and pitch an article to see what they think, even if I have no professional experience yet?

I'm just here to learn and improve, and hopefully promote discussion and thought while I'm at it! Out of this experience I think I have nothing to lose, only experience to gain

Thank you kindly in advance to any replies!

The best way to start is just start responding to other posts in other threads that you feel like you can add to. Like most of the internet this whole site has a sort of James Joyce stream of consciousness thing going.. but if there is a new topic you would like to post about go ahead and start your own thread.

Nobody else here asks for permission

I think your writing is fine. You use good sentence structure, you use proper capitalization and you use paragraphs. All you need is a blog and an audience and you are all set.

    Welcome,,

Believe me,, in this crowd,, the criticism will come on it's own.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

Welcome to the forums. Your writing looks pretty good to me. Don't worry about making so perfect it looses it's flavor.

Cabal shared this with me awhile back. Good advice, I think.
