The NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) has endorsed Walter Jones in the Republican primary for the 3rd Congressional District of North Carolina. Walter has a proven pro-Second Amendment record and is committed to protecting your gun rights!
•Supports Right-to-Carry – Walter is a cosponsor of the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, legislation that would ensure that law-abiding Americans with valid concealed handgun permits would be able to carry a concealed handgun in any other state that does not prohibit concealed carry. He voted for similar legislation in the 112th Congress.
•Opposes the Obama/Bloomberg/Clinton Gun Control Agenda – Walter strongly opposes the Obama/Bloomberg/Clinton agenda of banning guns, ammunition, magazines, and creating a so-called "universal" background check system that would criminalize the private transfer of firearms which, according to the Justice Department, is only enforceable through a federal firearms registry.
•Opposes Operation Choke Point – Walter voted for legislation that would prohibit the Obama administration from executing an abusive practice, known as Operation Choke Point, in which the Department of Justice intimidates banks into refusing or severing financial services to legally-operated ammunition and firearms dealers.
•Supports America's Hunting Heritage – Walter voted for the Sportsmen's Heritage and Recreation Enhancement (SHARE) Act, a bill that would positively impact sportsmen throughout North Carolina and the country. Specifically, the SHARE Act would protect traditional hunting ammunition, open additional land access for hunting and fishing, and allow firearms to be legally carried on land managed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
•Opposes the U.N. Gun Ban Treaty – Walter opposes any international treaty by the United Nations or any other global organization that would impose restrictions on American gun owners. He signed a letter opposing the Obama administration's signing of the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (ATT), as well as cosponsored a concurrent resolution opposing the ATT.
•Supports Gun Manufacturers and Dealers – Walter voted for the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, a law that prevents the American gun industry from being sued into bankruptcy through frivolous lawsuits.
•Opposes Semi-auto Ban – Walter voted against a ban on commonly owned semi-automatic firearms used for hunting, recreational shooting and self-defense.
•Opposes Ammo Ban – Walter signed a letter opposing the Obama administration's attempt to ban the most popular and widely used rifle ammunition.
•Opposes Gun Confiscation – Walter voted to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency, as happened after Hurricane Katrina.
•Opposes Magazine Ban – Walter voted against a ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
•Supports Gun Shows – Walter voted against legislation that would effectively eliminate gun shows.
•Opposes Washington D.C.'s Gun Ban – Walter voted for legislation that would repeal Washington D.C.'s draconian gun control laws and restore the right of self-defense to law-abiding individuals in our nation's capital.
•Holder Contempt – Walter voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress on both criminal and civil charges for the flawed and tragic Fast and Furious scandal.
