Libertarian car chase, OJ would be proud

If he damaged any property, he'll be sued to pay for it. Nobody has any right to tell him what speed or direction to drive, look at this guy exercising his freedom to travel.

Can the cops be personally sued if they run over and kill a bystander or destroy property?

Oh, come on, PRB. You just did this theme a couple of months ago. Don't you progressives have anything original for this forum? This is only going to get your red rep bar bigger. Your game here is bad enough. Work on it, bub.

PRB, are you ever going to pull out of 'trolls don't answer questions' mode long enough to explain to us just what you think is libertarian about a car chase?

No. The latest fad is to charge the person who they're chasing with all of that. They particularly like to kill people with their gross incompetence, so they can charge the person they're chasing with first degree murder.

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

Unrelated but I was bored and flipping channels one night and came across a chase on the show "Cops". The car finally stops and the guy gets out with his hands up as instructed. He is wearing a pink t-shirt with the "Cops" logo on it. Thought it was funny!

Laws are anti-liberty, so disobeying laws, especially unconstitutional ones such as

    -Speed limits
    -Direction of travel
    -drunk driving
    -seat belts

Are exercising of freedom to travel.

This is why you never show your license when a Fascist asks you to show him.

Michael Badnarik has a video explaining this. He was the libertarian presidential candidate in 2004. I dare you to say he's not libertarian.

The question was, what is libertarian about a car chase. Would you care to tell me what's libertarian about a car chase? Or is today the day to deflect from and duck questions, while only pretending to answer them?

you got me there, nothing. nothing of this CHASE is libertarian, as chases are by definition government.

I would say more disconcerting than funny. You see this all the time with copsuckers. Somebody's dog or kid gets shot, yet they still support the po-lice.

And COPS is more pitiful than funny. It's not funny at all. At least the balance of power has somewhat shifted. There was time when the public only knew about lice through the local media and pro-cop shows like COPS. These shows are really more a public relations program for lice. The COPS production was slick and it was highly edited. The lice on that show were never shown in a bad light. The "bad guys" were often shown to be totally bad.

Local news is also little more than a public relations arm for the lice. Local news needs a close lice relationship so that they can have access to juicy stories. These bimbo reporters are mostly copsuckers.

It is somewhat fortunate that we can now see bad cop behavior through new technology. Telecommunications media like discussion forums, Youtube, live streaming, cell video, etc. means more raw video, and not just edited video. Lice hate this. They pretend they like the technology, but only if they can control it.

And the lice "Bad Apple" explanation is inaccurate. The tired old tagline, "There's good cops, and there's bad cops" is also inaccurate.

Article: 80% of cops destroy dash cam video: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...l-destruction/

    Excerpts:

From DNA Info, hereís the latest piece of evidence that the corruption and abuse in the Chicago Police Department arenít limited to a few bad cops ó the problems are systemic.

Why are so many police dashcam videos silent?

Chicago Police Department officers stashed microphones in their squad car glove boxes. They pulled out batteries. Microphone antennas got busted or went missing. And sometimes, dashcam systems didnít have any microphones at all, DNAinfo Chicago has learned.

Police officials last month blamed the absence of audio in 80 percent of dashcam videos on officer error and ďintentional destruction.Ē

This isnít a few bad apples. Itís 80 percent.
    ************************************************** *

But it isnít just Chicago. In April 2014, the Los Angeles Times ran a similar story about the Los Angeles Police Department.
Los Angeles police officers tampered with voice recording equipment in dozens of patrol cars in an effort to avoid being monitored while on duty, according to records and interviews.

It's kind of true. One case of a guy breaking the law doesn't justify the law. In any case, I challenge you to come up with a scenario in which any law could have prevented him from doing this. Idiots like this get taken out pretty quick.

On another note, the US is a good place for $#@! like this to happen. You don't see $#@! like this in China, where the police don't really enforce anything, if there even are any regulations besides stop lights at intersections.

I felt it was ironic that somebody bumped a thread to criticize bumping a thread. Just as I found it ironic that a person in a chase on the TV show Cops was wearing a Cops TV show t-shirt. That was the point of both posts.

    I'm aware.

He was questioning your intentions in bumping it and you responded by telling him it's silly to bump a thread to do that, but that doesn't explain why you bumped it in the first place. You know these things don't usually just sink back into oblivion once they've been bumped, so the responsibility falls mainly on the original bumper, which is you.

Nice sarcastic straw man. Man, that sentence was a trainwreck. It's hard to tell if you're being sarcastic in the first place, but then even the opposite meaning of that (probably) sarcastic sentence is a response to nothing any of us have said.

Why would i want to prevent anything? I want FREEDOM
Well, yeah. Now that you've found a sarcastic statement that actually kind of does represent a libertarian's views, it's ironic that it's still sarcastic because it actually makes perfect sense. You can't prevent crime. All you can do is punish it when it happens. If someone is stupid enough to cause a dangerous situation, then that person is likely to die. If he doesn't and people get hurt, then he has committed a crime and will be punished accordingly.

Furthermore, why was this guy running anyway? Could it be he was being chased for not immediately complying because he was in violation of some victimless crime and then law enforcement helped to escalate the situation by chasing him, thus putting people's lives in danger?

Police don't enforce anything in China?
Not really. Unless it's a crime with a victim, of which there aren't that many.
