I don't recall in the movie "Top Gun" where fighters flew over a transport category aircraft upside down.
Doing a barrel roll within 25 feet of a large aircraft is a very dangerous maneuver.
Do you recall the Chinese fighter pilot who ran into one of our P-3s trying to show off?

Except as to the rule of appointment, the United States have an indefinite discretion to make requisitions for men and money; but they have no authority to raise either by regulations extending to the individual citizens of America.
Dangerous? Sure, if the pilot isn't competent.
Aggressive? No
It was defensive, to send a message to the US regarding its activities near the Russian coast.
Perfectly rational and predictable behavior.
The US or any other country would do the same (with or without the irrelevant and acrobatic tricks) if the shoe were on the other foot.

LOL
We do do it, every time the Russians get too close to US territory.
For instance:
http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/27/world/...rs-intentions/
So, in your view, the US acted aggressively here? Two Russian bombers intercepted by U.S. fighter jets off the California coast on July Fourth...
...U.S. fighters also intercepted two other Russian Tu-95 bombers the same day off the southern coast of Alaska.
By intercepting Russian planes near US airspace?

He's saying diplomacy first
And if that doesn't work, yeah you can shoot, that doesn't mean shoot to kill or destroy, you use warning shots, lock missiles on them.
I just want objectivity on this forum and will point out flawed sources or points of view at my leisure.

Meh, the Chinese have done it too. It's just bombastic dick grabbing. An American fighter escort would probably have prevented it.

Baltic is a major trade route. Which, I suppose everyone knows. Lots of stuff going on with nations abroad on that front. Not only in terms of products but the entire economic/financial clearing structure and infrastructure itself is being changed in lue of the U.S. screwery ther in the Ukraine. Nobody wants to be next. And the U.S. being there isn't going to change anything. Thus, the bird. BRICS and Asians are fast moving bogies, boys.

No, not a defensive manuever.
Neither rational nor predictable.
Perfectly rational and predictable behavior.
That is not how we conduct intercepts. That would be a quick way to get yourself flying a desk.

^^^
The practice of intercepting a hostile plane/ship near your own borders is normal, predictable, and rational.
Russia does it, the US does it, everybody does it.
To say (as the US media has been saying) that these Russian interceptions are a sign of aggressive intentions is nonsense.
...propaganda designed to gin up support for the genuinely aggressive intentions of US policymakers toward Russia.
As for the barrel roll, I give ~o $#@!s.
It is not a sign of aggressive intentions either. It's a sign of dick waving.
An accidental plane crash would be unfortunate, but of no consequence to the larger geopolitical situation.

Yes. It is dick waving. But, as policy and practice American forces do not do it. Wars can be started over minor $#@! like this if things don't go right. It is one thing to intercept. Every military does it all the time. It's the game of cat-and-mouse. But, creating a dangerous situation is ass-hattery at it's finest.
It's a sign of aggression in that it goes outside what is considered rule of engagement parameters. Let's take this down to a singular one on one interaction. For whatever reason you and I are squared chest to chest. You think it would be cool to quickly raise your knee towards my scrote. Your goal is just to make me "flinch." I don't know that your goal is to make me flinch and I flinch putting myself unwittingly into your knee. Game on.
Little $#@! like that starts bigger $#@!. If the pilot of the reconnaissance aircraft had "flinched" and the aircraft collided things could have went sideways real quick.
That still falls into the asshattery category.
For it to be aggression, there has to be intent; i.e. the Russians would have had to intend to cause a collision (which no doubt they didn't).
If Putin decides to wear roller blades to meet Obama, loses control, crashes into him, and breaks his arm, that would be an indication of stupidity, not aggressive intentions.
I revised my post..see the (quickly edited) post. Perhaps that makes more sense.
There was aggression on the fighters part. An act was conducted so as to create another reaction. I'm sorry if you don't see it. Rules of engagement are maintained so accidents don't happen and larger conflicts don't occur because of them.
Again, I'm not talking about accidents. Nor am I saying that the risky maneuvers of the Russian pilots are prudent. I'm saying that they are not (contrary to the way the media is representing them to the public) an indication of any aggressive intentions of Russia toward the US. For an example of actions which do indicate aggressive intentions, see the string of US air bases encircling Russia.
Our national leaders must do something to restore our standing in the world, things are getting bit out of hand lately.
Say what you must about last POTUS but these kind of news causing national insult were unheard of back then.

Because if you read the full statement, Trump is framing this as a failure of Obama's diplomacy. Diplomacy with Russia is the last thing the neocons want. Trump feels free to talk about shooting them "if it got to that point" because he knows it would never happen if he wins the election. Trump has been quite clear that he intends to restore good relations with Russia and Putin would have no need for barrell rolls under a Trump presidency. This is why the neocons are in a state of panic. War with Russia is central to their plans.
