New York Announces $15 Minimum Wage

(NEWSER) – Thursday was a great day for low-wage workers on both coasts: Just hours after California lawmakers approved a statewide minimum wage of $15 for 2022, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that the minimum would hit $15 in his state sooner—at least in parts of it. The budget deal the Democratic governor hammered out raises the minimum wage in New York City to $15 by the end of 2018, but it won't reach that level in the city's suburbs until 2022, the New York Times reports. North of Westchester County, the minimum wage, currently $9, will only be increased to $12.50 by 2021, though the deal calls for it to eventually hit $15 as well.

"The current minimum wage in the state of New York ... in our opinion does not afford one the ability to live a decent life," Cuomo said, per CBS New York. "You can't raise a family on $18,000 a year in the state of New York. So we want to raise the minimum wage, which in and of itself would affect 2.3 million workers." The deal gives New York City businesses with fewer than 11 employees an extra four years to introduce the $15 minimum wage and includes what Cuomo calls a "safety valve" for upstate wage increases, under which state analysts would measure the economic impact of rising pay.

    Here it comes....
    * Enforce Border Security – America should be guarding her own borders and enforcing her own laws instead of policing the world and implementing UN mandates.

    * No Amnesty - The Obama Administration’s endorsement of so-called “Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, will only encourage more law-breaking.

    * Abolish the Welfare State – Taxpayers cannot continue to pay the high costs to sustain this powerful incentive for illegal immigration. As Milton Friedman famously said, you can’t have open borders and a welfare state.

    * End Birthright Citizenship – As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be granted U.S. citizenship, we’ll never be able to control our immigration problem.

this is going to create lots of new opportunities for hard working families
we should welcome this enforcement of our civil right to a good paying job
they should eliminate child labor under 21 too to provide time for ample education
I'm so glad Cuomo wants to help me afford the ability to live a decent life

'We endorse the idea of voluntarism; self-responsibility: Family, friends, and churches to solve problems, rather than saying that some monolithic government is going to make you take care of yourself and be a better person. It's a preposterous notion: It never worked, it never will. The government can't make you a better person; it can't make you follow good habits.' - Ron Paul 1988

$15 dollars an hours! What cheapskates!
How is anyone supposed to live well on $15 an hour? Its ridiculous!
They should make it $150 an hour so everyone can live well.
Or better yet $1,500 an hour. That way everyone can be rich.

I agree, why are they being so stingy? $15 is nothing.
