Massie: Kasich can't win, should drop out

Northern Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie said Tuesday Ohio Gov. John Kasich cannot win the GOP presidential nomination and should drop out of the race.

“The man has already lost,” said Massie, R-Garrison, after participating in a roundtable with other House conservatives. “If you can do math, he’s already lost.”

Asked if Kasich should drop out, Massie said yes.

“I think he should drop out … because he can’t win,” he said. “It’s sort of a reasonable thing to do. When (Sen.) Rand Paul saw the math, he got out of the race.”

At the beginning of the GOP presidential race, Massie endorsed Paul, his home-state colleague with whom he shares libertarian leanings. Paul suspended his White House bid in February and refocused on winning re-election to the Senate.

Massie said he will not endorse any of the remaining contenders, suggesting it might be foolish to do so given the unpredictability of this year’s campaign rhetoric.
