Carson Accuses Cruz Camp of Foul Play – Told Voters Carson Was Dropping Out

    Fortune reported:

The Carson camp claimed Cruz’s team spread false rumors at caucus sites that Carson had dropped out.

Ben Carson was incensed as the results of Monday night’s Iowa caucuses rolled in, accusing the winner of spreading falsehoods about him at caucus sites.

Carson’s team claimed that Cruz’s campaign deliberately sent emails to supporters to spread false rumors at caucus sites that Carson had dropped out, so his supporters would caucus for other candidates.

“That is really quite a dirty trick,” Carson said speaking to reporters at the end of the evening. “That’s the very kind of thing that irritated me enough to get into this quagmire.”

“To have campaigns come out and send emails to their caucus speakers suggesting that Dr. Carson was doing anything but moving forward after tonight is the lowest of low in American politics,” said Carson campaign manager Ed Brookover.

Well, what difference does it make ?

It's not like the discovery of mistakes, fraud and dirty tactics ever change election outcomes after they were held.

You know what.. I actually dislike Cruz more than Trump.

Maybe he should stab Cruz and break his knife off in his stomach instead of letting a belt do it.

So I guess Carson won't be endorsing Cruz after the suspension of the Carson campaign. Cruz's actions will come back to haunt him.

Dr. Ben Carson, endorse Rand Paul.

This would be a good time for Rand to come forward and express "great" sympathy for what Cruz did to him. Have Paul commemorate on a few positive things about Ben Carson. Not only would this make Carson supporters liken Rand for doing this, but it would expose the low life character of Cruz, hoping turning off supporters and if any luck, Rand's good deed gets rewarded.

The Cruz people were also spreading falsehoods about Trump at these sites. It looks like Ted was desperate and given the significance of Iowa to his campaign, this behavior is logical.

Just read his words in Cleveland's voice.

    Trump got the uninformed vote.
    Rubio got the establishment vote.
Cruz got the trolls and other device people vote.
Carson got some of the religious vote.
    Rand got the liberty vote.

I think overall this is a pretty fair assessment. Pretty much all the negative stuff about Rand that I saw on social media came from Cruz' supporters.

He actually might, but only if Paul beats him in NH. You can't really drop out of a race, and endorse someone who was ranked below you.

That's why timing is everything right now. Rand needs to step out front on what Cruz did to Carson. We know sooner than later Carson will drop out and his supporters will "thank" Rand for standing up for their guy. Rand would be killing two birds with one stone, exposing the low life POS Cruz.

Time magazine is all over this story.

“To have campaigns come out and send emails to their caucus speakers suggesting that Dr. Carson was doing anything but moving forward after tonight is the lowest of low in American politics,” said Carson campaign manager Ed Brookover.

“This is horsesh-t,” Rob Taylor, Iowa state representative and Carson’s Iowa co-chair, said simply.

Members of Carson’s team furnished evidence of various precinct captains alleging misconduct by the Cruz campaign.

Ryan Rhodes, Carson’s Iowa state director, showed reporters a text on his phone from Barbara Heki, a Mike Huckabee supporter. “The Cruz speakers at our caucus announced Carson was suspending his campaign for a while after caucus. They did this before the vote. Same thing happened at another caucus. Sounds like slimy Cruzing to me,” the text read.

Jason Osborne, Carson’s deputy senior strategist, read aloud another missive, this one an email from their precinct chair in Muscatine: “The guy speaking for Ted Cruz right before the vote, he was supposed to be done, he announced that there was a story on CNN that Ben Carson was taking a break after Iowa, and then stated, ‘So you might want to rethink wasting your vote on him.’”

Cruz’s team flatly denies the allegations. “That’s absurd,” spokesperson Catherine Frazier said.

Come on Rand....jump out on this story and defend Ben on what low life POS Cruz did. There is a opening here and Rand needs to capitalize now!!!!!

“I don’t think that there will be any curtailing of Donald Trump as president,” he said. "He controls the media, he controls the sentiment [and] he controls everybody. He’s the one who will resort to executive orders more so than [President] Obama ever used them." - Ron Paul

Evidently, Team Carson could not insure that there was a representative voter at each precinct.

What would the purpose of having a staff if they could not cover the single most important detail of getting someone elected?

The dirty trick would never have been effective without thin Carson popularity and total Carson organizational FAIL.

    Carson fail.

    He needs to own it.

  21. #18
Surprised he even got 9 percent of the vote with that crap taking place.

Huh. Guess he got Ron Paul'ed

Had I been there, I would have openly speculated that the candidate had dropped out if not a single person spoke up for him.

Only a very, very, poorly organized campaign doesn't make sure that someone is designated to represent the candidate at EVERY precinct.

I've been to a caucus before and have spoken up for Ron.

It is just not that hard.

This was probably a bad move on Cruz's part. He could have benefitted from getting Carson's endorsement and supporters when the time came that he really did drop out. Now I'm betting Rubio will be the beneficiary. And I'm predicting that from Super Tuesday on, Rubio will emerge as the favorite to win the nomination.

Rubio wont get it, Trump is going to swoop in and throw money at Carson and get his endorsement, much like Huck, and soon Frothy.

And Rand could squeeze in how the media kept falsely reporting that his father had dropped out in '12, and even kept implying that Rand was dropping out for many months not long ago.

Steve King was just on Laura Ingram...he did it! Based on a CNN report...saying Carson going to Florida and then Prayer Breakfast. He worded it so dis-ingeniously...it wouldn't be right to let the Carson folks vote without knowing Carson was dropping out...man, really sleazy.

Update: Here is the POS apology.

Republican presidential candidate and "low life POS"* Ted Cruz apologized for his campaign’s statements made on the day of the Iowa caucus strongly implying that Ben Carson was dropping out of the race.

Carson strongly condemned the tactic Tuesday morning, calling it a “dirty trick,” and Cruz spokesman Rick Taylor got an earful from MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski for it. In response, the Cruz campaign issued a public apology to CNN.

Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, our campaign updated the grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story. That’s fair game.

What the team should have done is send around the follow-up statement from the Carson campaign clarifying that he was indeed staying in the race when that came out.

That was a mistake from our end, and for that I apologize to Dr. Carson.

It started when his flight was delayed due to weather yesterday morning and he missed a rally. He ended up speaking to them via skype, but there were already "reports" that he canceled the appearance.
