Thread: I am going to back Cruz.

Just like Obama in 2008, Rafael is a Goldman Sach candidate saying all the things the morons want to hear. You are welcome back when you realize Rafael tricked you.
A sense of danger gives birth to fear. And fear is the time-honored cross for the crucifixion of liberty.

You lost me on this one Klamath, at the very least, if you want to try and compromise your principles with a corrupt, big banker type such as Cruz, you could at least wait until Rand Paul actually drops his campaign before doing so. Being paranoid about Neo-cons because of their foreign policy and racialist politics but siding with a fear-mongering, pandering, pro-police state piece of garbage can only be described as misguided reactionary measures based on emotion rather than logic.

Now it is flat out a choice between Cruz Trump Hillary Rubio or Bernie. To fend off the possibility of having to choose between Hillary Rubio, or Bernie over Trump, I have to back Cruz.
Rubio is rapidly going to collect the neoconservative branch and a good portion of the religious right. He is going to surge in NH and the news is going to run with that. Last thing I want is to get stuck in California with a choice between Trump and Rubio. As of now the era of the Paul's is over.
I respect the people sticking by Rand and salute you all for taking a hard stand for the most principled and honorable man running and out of respect to you all and Rand and Ron, I won't be posting anything about Cruz and I probably won't be around much at all anymore. It has been a wild ride these last 9 years Sometime euphoric and sometimes not so great but it has been a life experience.
Don't let the door hit you in the ass.

Good to see the shill accounts outing themselves tonight, at least. Most were pretty obvious already but it's nice to have confirmation.

I think Rand's campaign actually did get people to the caucus, they just ended up voting for someone else.

I can see people being burned three times, as in all there efforts turning to ashes, causing people to abandon ship in frustration and renewed apathy.
The voters that lifted Ron to victory were never with Rand, that much is clear. I think people on RPF were looking at this with rose colored glasses.
Tonight the glasses got slapped of some peoples faces, like this poster from 07.

A lot of us are/were college students within the last 10 years knows that voting is probably the last thing on your mind. College students have exams, homework, internship, jobs, xbox, hangovers, weed and etc etc to deal with. $#@!, I bet half the kids were hung out or high XD....

COllege students also have no money to donate.

Unfortunately, free college from sanders > freedom from Rand. oh well =*(

A few of my friends who are Rand supporters are jumping ship to Cruz already... for me I will hold on until Nevada and then I will just stay home and support no one or write in mickey mouse.

wtf is the appeal of Rubio for youth votes??? What exactly has Rubio said that makes college/high school students wet? He isn't giving free $#@!. He isn't offering more freedom. All Rubio offers is probably a draft into the next war.

He quotes Jay-Z lyrics on the Senate floor.

A fine question, indeed. I look forward to the on-the-ground reports over the next couple days.

Ah I cant believe this. This coming from an 07'er.

Don't go to Cruz, he's clearly a dick. Wifey at Goldman, campaign manager from Goldman, misses audit the Fed vote. What difference at this point does it make to have president Cruz as opposed to President Hillary, President Rubio, President Obama, President Bush?

I understand to some extend that if you are able to swallow the narcissist douchebag Trump that some switch to him because he is at least, lets say different. What I don't understand is that so many are able to swallow all that crap.
But $#@! it, I'd rather just want to be able to criticize the president for the next 8 years because I at least did not vote for him.

  19. #46
From what I can tell Cruz's main negatives are on military/foreign policy and couple social issues.

Wants to sanction one half the world, arm the other half, and expand the military even further. How this is in line with economic liberty and reduced gov't spending I don't know.

Also has a religious zealot side and supports banning gay marriage and abortion. Unlike Rand I have no doubt he'd actually do it if he could.

I like his track record on taxes, guns, healthcare and entitlement spending.

Cruz is a neo-con through and through. What he and Trump have proven to me is that the Republican party is likely a lost cause, there are just too many ignorant sycophants to overcome, at least on a national scale.

I'll vote for Rand in the primary if he's still in, but because of our rigged system I won't be in a state important enough for me to matter. Will probably vote Johnson again in the general, because at least if my vote's going to be worthless I won't kid myself and cast it for yet another corporate oligarch.

  21. #48
Going to Cruz is like beating terrorism by giving up your freedom. IT DOES NOTHING FOR YOU.

Also your timing is rather pathetic. Jumping ship and selling your soul to the media.

Have fun. I'd much rather lose and be right than to sell out and 'win'.

BTW, Cruz cannot win a general election.

If Rand drops out of the primary before our caucus, I suppose I would vote for Cruz. I mean a hard drop out, not the thing Ron did last time.

I would never vote for Trump.

Why would we settle for anything other than Paul ? There is no other option, all other options are pro-establishment.

Why does everyone act so surprised? If he's been around since 07 he seen everything that I've seen and more. And what I've seen here over the last 4 years, ever since June 2012, is a de-emphasis of principle, a muting of the message, and a strong emphasis on winning to the exclusion of everything else.

Nothing in the original post goes against any of those ideas. The whole time all of you " we have to win to be relevant" lot have been trying to convince everybody that it's time to start winning elections, there have been people here trying to remind everybody that the message and the purity of the messenger are what started this now long-dead movement to begin with.

If you don't believe that, and if you still believe that winning is everything, than the original post is the only logical position.
There are no crimes against people.
There are only crimes against the state.
And the state will never, ever choose to hold accountable its agents, because a thing can not commit a crime against itself.

The one reason I sympathize with the OP is because of posts like this one. Trump and his supporters need to get knocked down a peg.

I'm not voting for Cruz. But between Cruz, Trump, and any establishment candidate, I'd take Cruz.

I'll vote for Cruz if Rand endorses him before Super Tuesday. But that's the most I'll do.

I can see Rand doing that. It won't affect anything I do. But I hope folks here are ready for it.
