Rand Paul for President Issues Debate Statement

Prior to CNN's Republican Presidential debate announcement, Rand Paul for President has had discussions with the RNC and CNN in which the campaign indicated that Rand Paul should be on the main stage on Tuesday.
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Prior to CNN's Republican Presidential debate announcement, Rand Paul for President has had discussions with the RNC and CNN in which the campaign indicated that Rand Paul should be on the main stage on Tuesday. Our campaign asserts that fairness in dealing with polling variances, which previously allowed for amended rules for Carly Fiorina for CNN's August Republican Presidential debate, would indicate Rand Paul should be on the main stage during Tuesday's debate.

    Some of the points include:

    1. Polling criteria has been amended in the previous CNN debate in a similar manner to what we are urging be done today.

In August, polls were all over the place. Older polls had one result, while newer ones had another. Even in contemporaneous polls, there were different people ahead and behind. Thus it was determined that additional time periods and criteria were warranted for fairness. We ask for the same process today.

    A. In addition to the previously announced criteria, if a candidate qualified via the polling between the last debate and this debate, they are on the main stage.

    B. In addition to the previously announced and above criteria, if a candidate is above other main stage participants in multiple polls, they are on the main stage. Senator Paul is in the TOP FIVE in multiple polls, including the newest New York Times national poll.

    2. Senator Paul has a national, first-tier campaign, organized in all 50 states. He is on the ballot everywhere that has had filing. He has over 400 fully operational grassroots groups, and his campaign and related entities have raised $22 million for this race. It is simply not consistent with facts to attempt to force the campaign off of the main debate stage.

    3. Rounding up should be applied. Polling margins are simply too wide to allow a quarter or half a point to determine the outcome.

    4. The campaign is not asking for special treatment, but simply fairness in criteria, whether it be time frames, allowances for poll variances, or rounding, all of which have been applied to other debates.

Senator Paul is eager for Tuesday's CNN debate, and looks forward to his fair and rightful place on the main stage.

But seriously, Tuesday? They aren't informed yet this close to the function? Is Rand going to show up to find out?

Why does Rand appeal to the "fairness" of the RNC?

If Rand would have been this aggressive back in July, he'd at least be in 4th place by now.

People like Carson and Trump can get away with that. Guys like Rand can't, especially with his numbers.

He's appealing to the RNC's desire to not be bombarded by angry letters from Republicans, some of whom may (we hope) care about fairness.

Haha...I don't think they care. Rand is trying to be as un-independent as possible. Why?

Because he's still the only one genuinely trying to bring more people into the party, like they said (after Mitt got thumped) needs to happen for them to win a general election.

because the rnc lobbied to get firiona into the main debate, so he is saying they should do the same for him.

It'll be win win. He will be either able to debate or have ammunition to declare himself the real outsider blacked out via the media and the party.

just remember that if rand is still not allowed on the main debate it could help him.

    1. he will get more time in the kiddie debate.
    2. ron was booted off a fox news debate and it really helped him get stronger.

If they gave in they'd be letting in Huckabee also correct? I don't think it happens. Fiorina had a much stronger case for inclusion, she averaged 5% in national polls between the first debate where she was relegated to the undercard and the CNN debate. By the same method, Paul has been at 2.33% and Huckabee at 2.44%. Letting these guys in would leave an undercard of Pataki/Graham/Santorum which is just awful.

Huckabee is running a very controlled and reserved campaign, but Paul has a much better chance of having a replayable moment versus Santorum or Graham than he does getting the microphone in a ten man field. Best hope for Paul is he gets a few moments that get replayed, and someone from the main stage like Rubio or Christie goes after what he said.

If Rand isn't in the main debate then Ron comes out in full force, swinging like never before. You heard it here first as in Bulls on Parade! The former Ron supporters will abandon this Trump crap and come home on the dime. Most of them, that is, besides the sideshow "typically non-voting or whatever" ancaps.

Totally love that idea! I was wondering if Tuesday will be a shift in the campaign, with new blood and/or a new focus. Who knows but maybe this could also be a plan to get attention for the moneybomb??

Maybe on Tuesday he'll read the 28 classified pages on live TV, flip the bird, and then get hauled off to jail.

Latest two polls have him at 2% NH and 3% IA. What's going to happen?

He polled 5 in the Fox Iowa poll just released, tied with Bush for 5th, but he needed a 7.

    Edit:

    Oops
    The more prohibitions you have,
the less virtuous people will be.
    The more weapons you have,
the less secure people will be.
    The more subsidies you have,
the less self-reliant people will be.

    Therefore the Master says:
I let go of the law,
    and people become honest.
    I let go of economics,
    and people become prosperous.
    I let go of religion,
    and people become serene.
I let go of all desire for the common good,
and the good becomes common as grass.

If CNN ignores their old poll Rand is in.

At least they can use some fairly strong justification for letting him in. Though if they do, 3 or 4 other campaigns will raise holy hell about it.

You don't understand how this works yet when your last name is Paul, do you?

It will be lose/lose. If he gets in, media stories will be that rules had to be bent to let him in because of his low polling. If he doesn't get in, media will report that he missed the main debate because of low polling.

    There is no good here.

Well, the good here is the volatility - Carson was 28% and Canada Cruz up 21% from a 10% a month ago in the other Iowa poll.

Iowans and all getting spoon-fed from media - seems like a lot of lost sheep (or old goats).
