Sayonara Middle Class - 22 Facts That Show The Middle Class In America Is Dying

    http://www.infowars.com/sayonara-mid...rica-is-dying/

Once upon a time, middle class households took home 62 percent of all income in America.

Today, that number has dropped to just 43 percent. This is just one of the absolutely astounding statistics that you will read about in this article. Over the years, the middle class in America has been in steady decline. Our incomes have been going down, our net worth has been going down, the quality of our jobs has been going down, and yet the cost of living just keeps going up. As a result of all of these factors, more Americans are living in poverty today than ever before, and dependence on the government has exploded to unprecedented levels.

    ..

#1 This week we learned that for the first time ever recorded, middle class Americans make up a minority of the population. But back in 1971, 61 percent of all Americans lived in middle class households.

#2 According to the Pew Research Center, the median income of middle class households declined by 4 percent from 2000 to 2014.

#3 The Pew Research Center has also found that median wealth for middle class households dropped by an astounding 28 percent between 2001 and 2013.

#4 In 1970, the middle class took home approximately 62 percent of all income. Today, that number has plummeted to just 43 percent.

#5 There are still 900,000 fewer middle class jobs in America than there were when the last recession began, but our population has gotten significantly larger since that time.

Link from that article also notes:

Seen over a longer period, from 1971 to 2014, the median income of all upper-income households increased 47% to $174,625. The median income for the middle tier rose 34% to $73,392, and for the lower income group, it was up 28% to $24,074. The median marks the halfway point.
Median incomes rose faster than low incomes and slower than high incomes. Median-ish. A lot of economic gains have flowed to those at the top.

As of this year, 9% of Americans are in what Pew called the highest-income category — up from 4% in 1971 and 5% in 1991. A household with three people had to have an income of more than $188,000 last year to be in this highest bracket.
I am slightly confused by some of their data. In the article, they note that:

Pew defined middle class as households earning two-thirds to twice the overall median income, after adjusting for household size. A family of three, for example, would be considered middle income if its total annual income ranged from about $42,000 to $126,000.
yet they have a chart where a family of three is "high income" if they make $126,000.

According to Wiki, a household income of $125,000 puts you in the top 13.5% of households. If you consider the top 20% as "wealthy" then an income of $105,000 a year puts you into that category. The bottom 25% goes as high as $25,000 a year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Househ..._United_States

Who and how many people are in the "middle class" depends on how you define it. And it changes over time. A household with "middle income" today has assets which would have been considered "upper class" 50 years ago. Bigger homes. Two cars. A color TV in every room. Telephones for every person in the family. "Poor" in this country would be at least middle class in a lot of the rest of the world.

How do we know a middle class is "good"? It's a pretty new phenomenon, and economics alone can't tell us whether ANYTHING is good or bad(it's a descriptive science).

When you are not rich and want to avoid being poor, then you know the middle class is "good".

Too subjective to be a valid argument. "Poor" is relative. i.e.-compare the "poor" in the U.S. to the "poor" of the 3rd world. ETA: We also know that some people subjectively prefer poverty-such as Henry David Theoreau and the guys who live in monastaries and gals who live in nunneries.

middle class is an illusion. It works as a buffer to keep the 99.9% from killing the top .1%. Check out L-curve income.

The other thing that's never mentioned is that these numbers are heavily dependent on location.
There is no place within 40 miles radius of Washington, DC where $145k puts you in the upper income bracket for a family of four.
And the overwhelming majority of the families who are in the middle class here have two income earners.
But just one of those incomes in, say, Indianapolis, is going to put you in a much nicer house and nicer cars than you'd have had in DC with two incomes.
There are no crimes against people.
There are only crimes against the state.
And the state will never, ever choose to hold accountable its agents, because a thing can not commit a crime against itself.
