Instead of Helping a Female Officer Who Was Raped, Dept Covered for the Cop Who Raped Her

Spokane, WA — A young woman was allegedly raped at a party hosted by Spokane resident Doug Strosahl last October. When*Spokane Police Sergeant John Gately learned the identity of the alleged rapist, he behaved in harmony with what he perceived to be his highest ethical duty: He contacted the suspect, fellow Spokane Sgt. Gordon Ennis, to warn him that he was the focus of a criminal investigation, and advise him of the contents of a search warrant that was being prepared.

Sgt. Gately, the head of*the Spokane Police Guild,*was charged last Friday*with felony first-degree obstruction and rendering criminal assistance to a suspect,*reports the Spokane Spokesman-Review.

“Our major concern is once we started investigating this was that somebody apparently tipped the suspect off as far as the search warrant and the components of the search warrant,”*Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich told KXLY News on November 13. “That’s unacceptable.” At the time, Gately’s conduct resulted only in a paid suspension. Criminal charges were filed following a search of the police union official’s phone.

She did it to herself. (Said in sarcastic tribute to FrankRep)

She knows how the "profession" rolls.

Zero Limited sympathy with reservations as to the merits of the case.

She did not "do it to herself".

What he did to her is a violent violation of her person that goes to her very core.

Hopefully she will find other work, but do you really think she will ever be safe from threats or actual violations in the future?

If you choose to take the same attitude her assailant and the union rep did, what makes you different?

I'm pretty sure it was a sarcastic remark based in frustration at "badge bunnies" who, even when fully aware of the dismal record of abuse that cops as a group have, still insist of following them around like a bunch of groupies.

Of course, we have no way of knowing if that was the case with this woman.

Firstly, I don't go around copping a cheap feel from drunken broads.

The people she chose to work and play with have the well-earned reputation for doing just that, and much, much worse.

    And she knows that.

People who make criminal complaints against cops are conspired against by the cops.

    And she knows that.

Most people don't have a lot of excess sympathy for some crack whore who hangs with a biker gang or a tweaker gang and gets passed around.

I'm just applying an equal standard.

No, you may not rape those incapable of consenting, but you did make the same excuses they did. He would have violated her even if they were not both cops if he saw her at the same party. Rape is about power, not sex.

Most people don't have a lot of sympathy for those who make the same excuses as violent assailants.

A woman who is "passed around" is a woman whose self worth and value has been decimated by their "family" amd "friends" (sometimes even their actual family) for years, even decades. No woman or man with a decent self worth wants to be "passed around as an object----and anyone, male or female, who treats them like objects is reprehensible.

Very likely, that woman was "groomed" as a young teenager or older child by sick people who prey on children. If you cannot feel sympathy for someone who has been groomed to behave a certain way to achieve a trained objective by people who care no more about her than you seem to, then who do you think is worthy of sympathy, if not a child or teen who is preyed upon until she becomes a "crack whore"?

    Hmmm... Interesting.

Don't you think we're all kinda "being groomed" by the police state? Our media, our government schools, and even our families. They're the good guys, you know. And if you think differently, there's something wrong with YOU.

I will modify my original comment to indicate that I have a reserved level of sympathy for this female officer.

To be perfectly fair, we don't know the actual merits of the case, other than the cops are circling the wagons and she's on the outside.

In that respect, she's getting the same level of service that joe public gets.
