Thread: Rand Paul Challenges Bernie Sanders To Hour-Long Debate On Socialism vs. Capitalism

  1. #61
my perception is that Bernie has little to gain from debating Rand. So Bernie would need to be enticed on an issue he is [or his base] is passionate about. Don't have any ideas for Wall St, prisons, or healthcare, but maybe something in the higher education realm. If a scholarship was created and funded up front through donations just for participation, Bernie's base may become very favorable for the debate. I would guess the scholarship would need to be around $100k which I think is very feasible if both camps promote it.

    Just an idea.

    - I like the scholarship angle to juice up some buzz and potentially make it a little harder for Bernie to say no - thanks SilenceDewgooder!

    - It could also be said that Bernie has little to gain by debating Hillary, since the DNC has "super delegates" and they are largely in Hillary's corner...

But here’s the problem—if a majoritarian takes away your rights, it’s not any different or less bad than an authoritarian taking away your rights.
    Brilliant!

Bernie Sanders’ campaign offered the reply, “No comment.”

Is there any news on this? Both candidates could use the publicity it would bring them.

Considering Hillary and her handlers aren't interested in letting her debate, Bernie should take this on before he's forgotten about.
