Daily Mail: Senators Paul and Rubio Go Head to Head on Military Spending

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-spending.html

U.S. senators Marco Rubio of Florida and Rand Paul of Kentucky waded into a head-to-head skirmish halfway through Tuesday night's Republican primary debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin over the question of whether escalating military spending equals fiscal liberalism..

Rubio, an advocate for higher military spending to buttress the country against terrorist attacks, defended his votes in the Senate to that end.
Paul, a libertarian and longtime advocate of smaller and cheaper government, attacked that position as an explicit endorsement of liberal spending.
Rubio responded that the health of the country's economy is meaningless unless it is safe from outside attack.

Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky accused Rubio of over-spending on the US military, saying Rubio is not a true conservative because he doesn't want to curb spending across the board

Other candidates quickly jumped in. 'You think it's expensive to pay for it?' asked Sen. Ted Cruz, the third of the three GOP presidential candidates who are currently members of the U.S. Senate. 'Try not paying for it.'

Paul returned to the point in his closing remarks.
'Can you be a fiscal conservative if you're conservative with all spending?' he asked, in a clear swipe at Rubio. Also joining in earlier in the debate was front-runner Donald Trump, who said the U.S. must ensure its defense is 'bigger, better, stronger' than before. 'We have no choice. I agree with Marco, I agree with Ted,' Trump said. 'We have no choice.'

Rand getting headlines on policy again. Good. Needs to shape up the argument on military spending more. He needs to point out that Christians being beheaded is because of Marco Rubio / Hillary Clinton's "We need to topple Assad" foreign policy and not because we haven't purchased enough F35s.
