    Unknown poet submitted under the name "John Ashbery." Got accepted by a major literary journal.

    The same dynamic that prevents people from voting for candidates unless the mainstream media approves of them, except that these people are actual professionals.

    Also explains the amazing ability these days of 'artists' to sell $#@!--sometimes literally--as 'art'.
