It's looking like we could have quite a few candidates running. Governor Dalrymple is not running for reelection. Senator Heitkamp, pretty much the only Democrat in the state that would be competitive, announced that she won't run for the position, so it looks like the primary will decide. Lieutenant Governor Drew Wrigley just had news about an affair break out, so he's not going to be a serious contender. The current front runner is probably Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, an establishment drug warrior.
On the liberty side, there are whispers of Representative Rick Becker, Treasurer Kelly Schmidt, and businessman Doug Burgum running. Of those three, Becker is the most known (policy wise,) being the drone restraining 4 amendment guy. I don't know very much about the other two.
