If Rand Paul really wanted more students rallying behind him, he should bring his dad to events like this.
Stay tuned as this may happen in the near future as caucus night approaches. I think this would be a good strategy even if Ron wasn't with Rand. Ron could have his own rallies on college campuses and encourage them to caucus for Rand.

I hope this strategy works. I just don't have much faith in young people actually turning out to attend a caucus which lasts for several hours.

I think having 17-29 years olds making up 25 percent of the electorate in Iowa is possible. With Rand's goal of 10k students, i think we can do this. Organizing hard on campuses with groups is huge because there is a sense of accountability come caucus night. Tie this together with a bus (party bus, party to the polls, or something) and other GOTV measures and I think we could pull it off. I think we have a great shot to win Iowa.

They had to get back so all the busses loaded up early, while Ron Paul with sleeves rolled up still out talking to people. Ronfest music and dancing spilled out into the street after 2am,
so I do not think we have to question energy levels.

I'm not saying he shouldnt be in Iowa, but he should be doing his own thing and then pointing people to Rand. NOT being the face of Rand's campaign.
25% is NEVER going to happen, hence not possible. Why? Because it has never happened.
I already ran the numbers on RPF as what happened in 2012. Ron didn't even come close to getting 10,000 votes from the 17-29 crowd much less "student" votes.
Who knows how many "in state" Iowa college students there are? Then run the math from there...by break down of party affiliation, then about 15% of them will end up voting.
If Rand does not win the Republican nomination, he should buck the controlled two party system and run as an Independent for President in 2016 and give Americans a real option to vote for.
We are all born libertarians then something goes really wrong. Despite this truth, most people are still libertarians yet not know it.
The straw poll occurs within 30 minutes after the caucus starts. No one is required to stay for the whole process (voting for delegates, writing a platform, etc.).
Difference this year is that Campus organization has become an important tool because college will be in session during the caucus this year. I do feel that this along with more organized campus outreach (Rand and Students for Rand have shown promise in doing so already) we can get a 10 percent increase in total turnout. This is a big difference between 2012 and 2016. It is a big opening for Rand. I know you like to downplay the young vote which is fine. The reason why they are important is because they are one of Rand's best demographics. The 10k goal, the 3k goal for Nevada, and the 300 goal for total campuses with a group are goals that make me excited. If we make them we win period. Shoot for the moon and you at least land in the stars.

2012 Iowa GOP caucus turnout: 122,255
% of caucus attendees age 17-29: 15%
% of age 17-29 that voted for Ron Paul: 48%
# caucus attendees that voted for Ron Paul= 122,255*.15*.48
That is 8,802 votes.

Exactly.. Now were all of them college students no, but your point was made for sure. This can happen. If we hit the 10k number, we probably win Iowa. This is something that excites me because it is a clear goal and a goal that other candidates can't even set.
