People expect that there will be some sort of cataclysmic economic event. I would suggest that we have been "collapsing" for some time now, just at varying rates.

Stock Markets will tumble Sept or Oct, then the Wall St bankers will find new ways to milk money back out of Main Street, again.
It is like this every seven years, including 2001, however the world was focused on the WTC disaster and pretty much ignored or blamed it all on terrorists. The real Economic Terrorists are the ones in Wall Street because they eat their own.
