Yeah, I just was looking at that. Articles talking about bounce back, now we're an hour from close and currently -600 for the day. No telling really what it'll end at.

It's probably James... Can someone check on him and make sure he's OK? He might have a serious case of whiplash right now.

Key support level at 16k. I'd be shocked if it drops below.

I think we have been watching the plunge team desperately trying to keep the 16k level... and failing!

Local media is reporting that the power went out at several bank buildings in Charlotte during the worst of the markets today, Wells Fargo HQ included. Charlotte is (quietly) the second largest banking city in the country. Talk about bad timing!

I was watching Yahoo Finance at the close. Ever time I hit refresh it was changing by 100-200 points! Even after it said the market was closed. That was wild.

seriously, if someone has Lightweis' number now would be a good time to call and make sure he's OK

I can't believe the Fed hasn't stepped in yet and called off the rate hike. I have this image of a referee (the Fed) in a boxing match and one guy is getting totally pounded and the ref is poised, looking closely at the guy's face, on his toes, ready to step in and end it.

I find it ironic that a Ron Paul commercial is on Antenna TV all the time between shows ( for at least a good month now ) warning of our economy and dollar... and now this.

Wonder what people are thinking who have Antenna TV ? lol

There is a Fed subbranch of the Richmond branch in Charlotte. The timing of the power outage is curious compared to the PPT bounce timing, 10:30am-4pm. Plus the reference in the article to 'circuits' made me think of 'circuit breakers'. Indeed, very tinfoily.

"Circuits" on the stock exchange refers to breaks in trading if certain levels are passed. First circuit breaker kicks in if there is a ten percent drop in one day (based on the final close at the start of the quarter- for this period, 17,200) so the DOW would have to fall 1,720 points in a day to trip the first circuit breaker. Trading would be paused if that was hit. Second is a 20% drop. If it hits 30% down, things are shut down for the rest of the day. Not shutting off power.

Dow is now up over 300 points so far today.

Even with today's ramp the Dow is still 1400 points below where it was one week ago. Yesterday's close (not low) reached down to a level not seen since Feb 2014.

18 months of gains gone in a week.

    and speaking of today's ramp...
