Rand Paul Got the Least Talk Time of Any Debate Candidate

    https://reason.com/blog/2015/08/07/r...ime-than-every

I read somewhere else that Rand spoke 900+ words. Trump spoke over 1,900. Was not at all surprised by that factoid.

We need to make sure this doesn't happen as well.

Part of it is likely due to Rand not using up all his time or talking past the buzzer like everyone else.
    * See my visitor message area for caveats related to my posting history here.
    * Also, I have effectively retired from all social media including posting here and are basically opting out of anything to do with national politics or this country on federal or state level and rather focusing locally. I may stop by from time to time to discuss philosophy on a general level related to Libertarian schools of thought and application in the real world.

Either that or he was in 9TH PLACE. You get time when you are leading. He is not right now. If it doesn't change soon he needs to bow out and focus on KY.

Oh please. Ron was low in the polls right up until the Iowa caucus and then almost won the caucus.

Both. I had been worried about these last few months leading up to the debate. It was really disappointing watching his poll numbers drop like clock work just in time for the debate. I wish he had made some noise those last two weeks just to keep his numbers up so he would get extra time.

How do you know that Rand would've received extra time had he been higher up in the polls? Scott Walker was in 3rd place in the polls but was 9th in the debate as far as the amount of time he spoke. John Kasich was 10th in the polls but spoke longer than everyone except for Bush and Trump.

Obviously they could have robbed him of it anyway like Walker. Since it was the metric that being used it would be nice to have going on regardless to make it more difficult for FNC to use that as an excuse when they screw Rand.

Based on FNC always sticking it to the Paul's I had Rand 2nd to last in my time prediction thread yesterday.

Rand is dumb for wanting to help / grow this atrocious party in any way. Hopefully he will recognize that.

Nope. His numbers came from being combative. Had he not done that he would have topped at 2-3 minutes.

It is revealing that Donald Trump was given more than double the speaking time that Rand Paul received. This suggests that Paul is more of a challenge to old-guard Republicans than Trump is.

The focus of all candidates, including Trump, was on how bad things are and how to prevent Hillary from being elected. We are expected, not to vote for someone but to vote against someone. There is little, if any, discussion of positive political principles, restoration of sound money, or reversal of the loss of American sovereignty to the UN and its treaty organizations. In other words, it’s politics as usual.
Based on the idea of natural rights, government secures those rights to the individual by strictly negative intervention, making justice costless and easy of access; and beyond that it does not go. The State, on the other hand, both in its genesis and by its primary intention, is purely anti-social. It is not based on the idea of natural rights, but on the idea that the individual has no rights except those that the State may provisionally grant him. It has always made justice costly and difficult of access, and has invariably held itself above justice and common morality whenever it could advantage itself by so doing.

That may help to explain why he did as well as he did.
