A one-and-a-half year-old Palestinian infant was burned to death and three of his family members were seriously wounded early Friday morning after a house was set on fire in the West Bank village of Douma, near Nablus.

According to witnesses, at roughly 4 A.M. Friday morning, two masked men arrived at two homes in the village of Douma, not far from the settlement of Migdalim. They sprayed painted graffiti reading "revenge" and "long live the Messiah" in Hebrew, breaking the windows of the homes and throwing two firebombs inside.

One of the two homes was empty at the time, but there was a family in the second: 18-month-old Ali Saad Dawabsheh, his father Sa'ad, mother Reham, and 4-year-old Ahmed.

The four were evacuated to a hospital in Nablus in the West Bank and then to the burns unit at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer.

The Israel Defense Forces subsequently confirmed that 18-month-old Ali died in the attack, and that Jewish extremists are suspected to be behind the attack.

"This attack against Palestinian civilians is a barbaric act of terrorism," IDF Spokesperson Lt. Col. Peter Lerner tweeted soon after the attack. Forces combed the area in an attempt to find the perpetrators.

According to eyewitnesses, the father was able to rescue his wife and 4-year-old son, but could not locate the baby, Ali, in the darkness.

Mother Of Ali Dawabsheh, Killed In West Bank Arson Attack Dies

JERUSALEM — A mother whose 18-month-old son was killed in a July arson attack on her family home in the Israeli-occupied West Bank died of her burns Monday — the day of her 27th birthday — her brother-in-law told NBC News.
Nasser Dawabsheh said the family was "heartbroken" at the death of sister-in-law Reham Dawabsheh after she became the third fatality of the attack which claimed her husband's life last month.

A second four-year-old son, Ahmed, remains in hospital and Nasser Dawabsheh said he was "asking constantly about his mother."
He said that the boy, now orphaned by the July 31 attack, will likely move in with his grandparents when he is well enough to leave hospital.
Suspected Jewish extremists torched the family's home in the village of Duma, killing Ali, the toddler. His father Saad Dawabsheh also died on Aug. 9.

JTA – The father of one of the American-Israeli Jewish teens held by Israel's Shin Bet security service says his son is innocent and that he confessed to terrorism under torture.
“We are sure he didn’t commit this crime,” the father told JTA. “When they put him through the most aggressive interrogation of Jews in the history of Israel, when we heard that they were blaming him for Duma, we were in shock.”
The suspect is one of the Jewish youths held in administrative detention, or imprisonment without charge, by the Shin Bet in connection with the firebomb attack on a Palestinian home in the West Bank town of Duma in July. The attack killed three members of the Dawabsheh family, including an 18-month-old baby, and severely injured a fourth. The suspect's name was reported by the Forward on Wednesday.
The youths were detained in late November, and their lawyers claim the Shin Bet tortured them during interrogation, depriving them of sleep for days, slapping and kicking them, blindfolding them and hitting their “sensitive organs.”
“We learned that he went through a set of torture to admit to all kinds of crimes,” the father said. “The boy cried in front of the judge, begging him not to return him to torture, that he would rather die than go back to torture.”
The suspect was put under house arrest beginning in August. His father said that was a surprise but not a shock, given his involvement in the Hilltop Youth, a loose network of right-wing, largely extremist youth who set up outposts on hilltops across the West Bank in contravention of Israeli policy. He was placed in administrative detention on November 25.
