Rand Paul returns to Iowa this week for a campaign swing that will see the Republican presidential candidate visiting five Iowa cities and suiting up for a little baseball, his campaign confirmed.
The schedule has Paul visiting Waterloo, Williamsburg, Washington, Tipton and Davenport on Friday. On Saturday, he’ll host a coffee meeting at the Iowa 80 Truck Stop in Walcott. Paul then returns to Davenport before suiting up for batting practice with the Davenport River Bandits, a Class A professional baseball team, at Modern Woodmen Park.
Paul’s an avid baseball fan, his campaign said. He’s one of the few senators who competes in the annual Congressional Baseball Game, according to The New Yorker, and hasn’t missed one since joining Congress.
After batting practice, Paul will speak at 10 a.m. at the ballpark as part of the Quad Cities’ first “New Ideas Forum” promoting the metro area.
Paul, polls now at about fifth out of 15 candidates in Iowa, has campaigned over 18 days in the state.
Here’s a detailed look at Paul’s events this week:
