The vast majority of people, even political donors, do not own BTC

It's nice for now but if everyone used it right now (before scalability issues addressed), the transaction fees would be many times higher than credit cards.

Agree. Feel good that my donation, even though small, was at least processed for free by BitPay.

Would be cool if he talked about that and encouraged bitcoin donations. Obviously a lot of people can't/won't, but some people might look in to it. And it might bring in more donations from current bitcoiners.

This is a little more user-friendly than the FEC portal:

Biggest vendor by far is Saber Communications for $585,057, or ~21% of total spending.

    This is a little out-of-whack:

    MEDIA BUY 28,889.42
    MEDIA PRODUCTION 34,756.00

Generally not great to pay more to make the ads than to air them.

Are you thinking of the America's Liberty PAC ad?

Rand has Rex Elsass doing his ads.

It doesn't help that Benton PAC sucks. I wouldn't be that excited to find out they have millions to spend.

The amount of money spent on postage is a shame. An old and expensive method. I hope the ROI is good.

And for all that money they don't even include postage on the return envelope. If you want people to send you checks make it as easy as possible.

Could also include postage for items mailed from the store, as the "shipping" section seems relatively low.

Top 10 states for itemized individual contributions (this is about a quarter of total contributions)

Tests have determined that the difference between putting postage on the return is not worth it.

Of course it is old and expensive, but it is also proven.

    @Matt

Thank you so much for posting this! Don't listen to the negativity. Rand is working hard for all of us in the best way he knows how. Have a little faith, it isn't much to ask. I'm not saying you can't question things, but really? Postage stamps? You think that's gonna win the nomination? Focus on the big picture here.

Actually yes, direct mail and door-to-door is how elections are won. There has to be a little bit of media narrative/PR, but mostly direct marketing is what wins these things.

If you are a lackluster candidate, door to door won't save you. Compared to the other candidates Rand Paul is getting trounced. He needs to triple his fundraising now. Hillary has three hundred fifty staffers already hired. How many does Rand have?

You do understand that Rand is never going to have the funding of the establishment candidates, right? He will NEVER be able to compete with them on fundraising (unless he wins the nomination and the GOP machine kicks in).

But he doesn't need to, because what he has that (most of) them don't is an effective ground game.

Door-2-door, especially in caucus states, can be the difference b/t victory and defeat. Superior GOTV ops can be a 5-point difference in primaries, 10-15 points in caucus.

Speaking of which, is the campaign going to employ door-2-door in Vegas. Because I know a guy. He ran RP's Vegas door-2-door in 2008...
