Bernie Sanders: Don’t Need 23 Choices of Deodorant, 18 Choices of Sneakers

I don’t think the media appreciates the kind of stress that ordinary Americans are working on.

I hope Sanders wins the nomination. I know it's a long shot, but it'd be so easy. The "90% tax" and now this quote would make it a landslide.

Hey you idiot, the reason a lot of people eat is because they're producing deodorants and sneakers, which gives them income.

In Bernie's America, the government will give people income. You only need one pair of shoes anyway, right?

  6. #5
Suppose you reduce the number of shoe makers to 10. You can now redirect the resources freed up from the 8 companies no longer making shoes. Also, these companies owners are no longer invested in their shoe business, so that money is freed up to.

I'm not seeing how this helps the needy and hungry in a meaningful way.

There might be a massive shortage of shoes as a result. The other 10 may not have the productive capacity and economy of scale to produce the output provided by the other 8. Black markets in shoes will erupt if you restrict the choices that were offered under the conditions of a competitive market. The resources of the other 8 shoe companies are already efficiently employed or else those 8 would do something else with their capital. Sanders needs a freshman microeconomics principles class.

What we've needed for a long time is state-approved deodorant.

  12. #10
Whatever the deodorant quota was in the U.S.S.R. is probably what Sanders would advocate for.

  13. #11
Now if only Peter King would actually use a deodorant...

Even most democrats support the principles of Capitalism (albiet modified capitalism). There's no way someone running on this rhetoric will win.

Every day Bernie opens his mouth I am convinced that the majority of the Vermont electorate are mentally retarded for continually giving this lunatic a platform.

  16. #14
Yeah Bernie, we certainly could do it the socialist way.

The choice is 1 or 0.

    Take your pick.

Bernie Sanders Wrote An Essay In 1972 About Rape Fantasies
A man goes home and masturbates his typical fantasy. A woman on her knees, a woman tied up, a woman abused.” The essay, on men and women, was published before his political career and appeared in a Mother Jones profile this week.

At first, I thought this was some kind of satirical article, but when I read through it I realized that what Sanders actually wrote about was along similar lines to bizarre 3rd wave feminist drivel equivocating heterosexual relations with rape, which is actually fitting for his brand of craziness. He's not going to lose any of his support base over this as most of them tend to think this way, but this is one more cringe-worthy reminder that Sanders has always been a daffy ideologue 100% divorced from reality.

The sad thing is, a lot of people think that the daffy idealogues are us, and not them.

US govt should form a committee to pick the best 3 and then set a price cap.

Its $#@!ing genious why has noone thought of this or done this before its probably an entirely new idea that we should try and see how great it works

I think he's right, we don't really need all sorts of fancy deodorant and sneakers. But the huge difference is that I don't think the government should stop those who do want to buy or sell them.

    He supports Isreal

[Constituent] Are you going to go further… [and end] $30 billion going to Israel over the next ten years?
[Sanders:] You have a situation where Hamas is sending missiles into Israel… and you know where some of those missiles are coming from? They’re coming from populated areas… Hamas has very sophisticated tunnels into Israel for military purposes.

Yes, he opposed the Iraq war – and then proceeded to routinely vote to fund that war: ditto Afghanistan. In 2003, at the height of the Iraq war hysteria, then Congressman Sanders voted for a congressional resolution hailing Bush:

“Congress expresses the unequivocal support and appreciation of the nation to the President as Commander-in-Chief for his firm leadership and decisive action in the conduct of military operations in Iraq as part of the ongoing Global War on Terrorism.”

I wonder how he will standardize everyone's feet so that three manufacturers can make a limited line of shoes?

Does he not realize that all those manufacturers make shoes for an international market? Does he not realize we import shoes from nations besides China?

For the record, I have seen a pair of former Titan Albert Haynesworth's shoes. We own two (used) cars. Both smaller than those shoes. How would a manufacturer make money if they were forced to make shoes in every size? Is Albert Haynesworth supposed to go barefooted? What happens if nobody makes shoes his size?
