Difference is, the Republican field is more crowded, which will spread out donations across more candidates than it will among Democrats. There are multiple Republicans who are PERCEIVED as being anti-establishment (regardless whether they are or not). The Democrats only have Sanders. So more donations will flood towards him from "anti-establishment" minded Democrats.

But moderates/indies will never vote Sanders. He has niche appeal and Americans just won't go for someone like him.

Idiots and their money do curious things, Sanders' cash intake is just the latest example of it.

In B4 first reference to Blimps.
Brawndo's got what plants crave. Its got electrolytes.

    H. L. Mencken said it best:

“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

Perhaps a fleet of Bernie Blimps will shade the earth from global warming?

Hey, anything to keep away the looming end of the world, right? Between all this Blood Moon craziness and the "inconvenient truth" of AGW, the world will either end tomorrow of its own accord, or somebody might get crazy enough to make both a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I don't discount Sanders, I discount progressives, and the primary reason is the guy who is currently president.

He's down 48 points to Hillary. There is no recovering from that.

    I discount him.

Obama was down more than that. Sure there were different circumstances but there's no reason not to believe that Hillary is weaker this time around.

I wouldn't be to amazed if Hillary didn't make it. Sure she has all the money behind her but it's not even an open secret that she's also carrying all the baggage. Sure, supporters of her might disagree with that and I'm sure a lot of leftists like here. But they liked her 8 years ago as well.

She won't even acknowledge him and no one else will either. Mike Gravel didn't pull anybody anywhere when he ran.

Not if she continues to poll over 50% among Democrat primary voters.

If he follows his own economic views, that money will be spent fairly quickly.

The first rule of being a socialist is that your economic views only apply to others. This has been true since the very beginning with Marx. Mooching off a system that you are trying to destroy is what being progressive is all about.

It won't take very long to get them home but it won't be overnight either but Iraq says they can't stay and they are coming home just like Trump said.

Socialists in power is a nightmare. But socialists in opposition can be beneficial. Why? They are not connected to the same money that the establishment candidates are, and are therefore more willing to expose corruption in the political system. I think Sanders has done more good things in the Senate than the average member - even if he's the member there who is furthest away from libertarianism.

And no, Obama isn't a socialist by any stretch of imagination.

Gravel and Sanders are only similar in looks. Bernie is a popular progressive along with Warren. Gravel had been a nobody for a few decades.

It's only ironic if you think Socialism is the same thing in practice that it pretends to be in theory. At best, it's Utopian nonsense that seeks to sidestep the fallible and generally corrupt moral character of mankind, as well as resource scarcity. People who make money off of others believing nonsense tend to get wealthy pretty quick.

Socialism would actually be an ideal system if man was still in the Garden of Eden.

Seconding the person who mentioned Bernie has done a lot of good with his time in the Senate. Voted against foreign wars and with Ron on many items actually.

    'Independent socialist.'

That's even more of an oxymoron than 'beneficial federal program'. I didn't think that was possible.

Sanders' job is to make Hillary look middle of the road and make her positions look reasonable. He can't do it, but that's his job. And to wear bread crumbs laced with eleven herbs and spices, so Clinton can fry him more easily.

It's also his job to keep those Democrats who actually want to vote for someone principled within the party, instead of crossing over, becoming 'Blue Republicans', and voting for Rand Paul in the GOP primary. And that, unfortunately, he might actually be able to accomplish.

Good analysis! After killing the Fed Audit, Sanders can only be known to us as a fraud and establishment tool.

    Every system would.
    In New Zealand:
    The Coastguard is a Charity
Air Traffic Control is a private company run on user fees
The DMV is a private non-profit
Rescue helicopters and ambulances are operated by charities and are plastered with corporate logos
The agriculture industry has zero subsidies
5% of the national vote, gets you 5 seats in Parliament
A tax return has 4 fields
    Business licenses aren't a thing
    Prostitution is legal
We have a constitutional right to refuse any type of medical care
