Recent polls showed Rand ahead of Hillary in Pennsylvania. Now obviously this early doesn't mean too much and polls will be going up and down constantly, but I think it does signal that Pennsylvania will be in play if Rand gets the nomination. If he can take Pennsylvania that would be huge and keep in mind other states like Colorado and Nevada may resonate to his message.

Not really sure how the general electorate would respond to Rand, since he is a different type of Republican. If he can get his message out to the masses, then it may not be as simple as looking at past history and looking at which states voted Republican and which voted Democrat, Rand could potentially mess with all of that (doesn't mean I'm deluded enough to think states like NY or Cali will go his way - they're a lost cause I think).

I honestly think Rand will have a tougher time in the primaries than he would if he made it to the general (though I may be grossly underestimating the attacks that would come his way along with stupidity of the average person ).

Daunting task? Hell, given her name recognition, visibility as former First Lady and Secretary of State, and a lot of other points in her favor, an uphill climb against her was obvious even before she announced. She's practically won it at this point, really. The primary, anyway.

I looked through a bunch of polls, and these seem to be the states where Rand and Hillary are within 5 points of each other, and I think Rand is the underdog: http://www.270towin.com/2016_electio...php?mapid=bKRZ

I'm not very familiar with how Maine and Nebraska split.
