    Top Senate prospects of 2016

What are the best opportunities for gains in the U.S. Senate for the liberty movement in 2016? I think my home state of Indiana could be one. West Virginia could be, if Joe Manchin chooses to retire. Arizona would be if John McCain chooses to retire, although he seems to plan on running again. He may even be beatable in a primary, though.

What do you think about taking out Kelly Ayotte in the primary? Any other races that might be won by a liberty candidate?

IMO, we need to stay far and away from Arizona. 2010 was the best chance of kicking out McCain, and now he's the head of SCAS. He's more emboldened than ever, and crush any opposition.

However, if he decides to retire, we need to put all our resources not going to Rand, into Kelli Ward. She's very similar to Rand on a lot of issues, and is currently weighing a challenge to McCain, but it's not worth it to support her if McCain runs again.

    Please, someone run against Ayotte!

McCain is in more trouble than ever.

Rumor is TPTB are pressuring Coats to retire early so that Pence can hand pick the replacement...

It amazes me how New Hampshire is the most libertarian state in the union, but cannot elect a decent Senator or Representative

Good. Give me a decent candidate against McCain, and I'll donate.

I'm keeping an eye on Florida. In May, I'll start attending meetings with the GOP, and tea party groups, and I'll see what's going on. Rubio is expected to run for re-election, but there are a few challengers in the primary for his seat. I'll look into them. I do know, that if we do not have anyone now, we'll have a better chance in '18, because I've heard from some close to Senator Nelson that he is considering retirement. Anyways, that's what I have.

If you have a chance to get beat McCain you take it, the race should 100% be a priority. Hopefully Schweikert or Salmon run.

McCain has made the announcement that he will seek re-election for his 6th term as a Senator from Arizona as of today. I think it'd be a bloddy primary, but at this point, I think there is a chance the battle can be fought and won.

As for Florida, all I've seen are either establishment types. There was one exception. Dr. Joe Smith seems to be the exception. He wrote in support of allowing third parties into debates, which is no view held by the establishment. Further research shows he may be a good guy to go for, but I need to do some more looking. There are some things that have concerned me though. I have no signs that he is doing anything to run, and unseat Rubio, but it is early in the race. I'll give him some time before calling it.

State Senator Kelli Ward is currently exploring a candidacy for U.S. Senate in 2016, to challenge McCain. She is probably one of the best, if not the best, State Senator or State Representative to challenge McCain, based both on the fact that her sponsored legislation is very much in line with a lot of our beliefs, as well as her connections to the Arizona grassroots Republicans, and Tea Party types.

Some of her sponsored legislation includes things like nullifying the NSA, legalizing gold and silver as legal tender, 2nd Amendment preservation, deregulation of microbreweries (which was signed in to law), easing of restrictions on Uber and Lyft (also signed into law), and the list goes on and on. Over the past 6 months or so, Kelli has been speaking at various groups, probably to the point of exhaustion, since she lives in northwest Arizona, and is a physician as well. She introduced Rand at a grassroots meeting a few months ago.

According to polling, McCain is extremely vulnerable, and with enough fundraising dollars, I think Kelli Ward would stand a great chance against McCain. Salmon and Schweikert won't buck the establishment and challenge McCain in my opinion. We do have a resign to run law though, so I believe Kelli would have to resign her State Senate seat in order to run. They are two year terms though, and Kelli ran unopposed in the primary and general in 2014.

Defeating McCain needs to be priority number one for us. Ward is a great candidate and I think McCain is extremely vulnerable. People are ready to move on. If she can get near half of the primary vote in Maricopa County in a primary, the rest of the state should be able to push her over the top.

Anyone know if Andrew Hemmingway is considering a Senate bid in NH? I know he ran for Governor back in 2014, but I think he'd be a good candidate to put up against Ayotte.

what about Russ Feingold? he cast the only senate vote against the patriot act, something I doubt Ron Johnson will do

LOL. I saw him post about a porn start endorsing him the other day. He's a clown.

Ron DeSantis is running on the GOP side and he is pretty decent.

Didn't see the porn thing, but I have heard about DeSantis. He's okay in my book. Still waiting to see who else throws in their hats (if anyone).

The problem lies in the fact that many people would have to give up their seats. Mccain is probably going to win.

  24. #21
If McCain loses his senate seat and Bush or Rubio wins the presidency, we may just see him reappearing in a cabinet position :/

Why would Manchin retire? He's barely gotten started in his mad plan to screw you into the ground up to your eyeballs.
