Trump can't get rid of the Fed. Only Congress can. If the Fed raises rates, it will be because Trump's trade wars are slowing the US and global economies. He should be glad they are going to at least partly bail him out (which is what he wants). He is already saying any cut will be "too little".

The Flip-Flopper in Chief was critical of low interest rates when Obama was president. Now he wants them lower.

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi...t_go_down.html

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told reporters Monday that the Federal Reserve is keeping interests rates at record lows to help President Obama and to keep the economy from going down.

"They’re keeping the rates artificially low so the economy doesn’t go down," Trump said in response to a question about a potential rate hike by the Federal Reserve this month. "So that Obama can say he did a good job. That's the only reason that the rates are so low. They're keeping the rates artificially low so that Obama can go out and play golf after January and say that he did a good job. But it is a very, a very false economy. So [Obama] can leave office and say: See I told you."

“We have a very false economy," he repeated.
Trump wants rates low so he can look good and go out and play golf and say he did a good job.

Why did you leave out the part of the quote that said it would create political pressure on Congress? The quote addressed your statement.

You're going to have a very frustrating time refuting every post to this thread while it unfolds.

Been hearing that a long time.

"Think about what happens when a person gets up at a rally and starts railing against The Federal Reserve, and starts to create what could lead to Congressional pressure on The Fed, then you could imagine that their could be support for a different system."

It will take a lot more than people at a rally to get Congress to replace the Federal Reserve.

    Patience....

It's interesting reading back through this thread. Back when I posted it the mere suggestion that things like Liesman's recent statement would ever be uttered were dismissed by you as ludicrous. Now, here we are, years later and you're still at it.

And it is still just as unlikely.

    USMCA: The Gold Standard?

I found it interesting how many different people involved in that deal recently have referred to the USMCA as the "gold standard" in some form.

Google it yourself. USMCA gold standard

Jamie Dimon even mentioned during the Roundtable yesterday something about gold being returned to rightful status as a capital reserve. Easy for him to say when JPM has been hoarding COMEX physical gold and silver while shorting the paper. Ties in with the Basel III changes that restored gold to Tier 1 capital status some months ago.

    9/11/20-10/19/20 looks interesting...

Speaking of watching out for their numbers:

Did anyone notice that the Covid stock market crash took place in 2020 exactly between dates 2-23 to 3-22? Go verify on a Dow chart. It's true.

That date range is approaching once again. The Dow is also approaching 33,000 and looks likely to hit it in the same date range.
