Rand Paul endorses David Vitter for Louisiana governor

    Yuck.
Rand Paul endorsed Senate colleague David Vitter for Louisiana governor, potentially giving him a boost with Tea Party supporters.
In a fundraising e-mail sent Tuesday, Paul called Vitter a “stalwart supporter of limited government, states’ rights and the taxpayer’s best interest.” Paul, a GOP senator heading toward a likely presidential bid, is a favorite among Tea Party activists and won his 2010 race in Kentucky with their support.
“David Vitter will bring confidence, knowledge and experience to the governor’s seat,” Paul said, noting they have worked together on issues such as balancing the budget, immigration and auditing the Federal Reserve — all favorites issues among Tea Party advocates.
Vitter is the leading Republican in this year’s race to succeed Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who cannot run again because of term limits. Several Republicans have already declared their interest in running for governor, including Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne and Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle.

I hope he gets something from Villerie out of this or its just a retarded endorsement.

In defense of Vitter, if memory serves he was the one who stepped up to put the original Audit the Fed bill up for a vote after Bernie Sanders stabbed us in the back by neutering the senate version of Ron Paul's house bill.

So, maybe that's worth some street cred? Idunno.

Well it'd get him out of the Senate. Sucks for those who live in Louisiana though, although maybe he wouldn't be as bad on a state level.

He will be our next governor, with or without Rand's endorsement. Yeah, it sucks. It's not so bad if you like moralizing hypocrites...you know, those who go around telling everyone what marriage should be while visiting the local brothel.

I always thought Vitter was more conservative, at least fiscally, than your average senate republican. My gov, Snyder, is like your typical Romney kinda republican so all things being equal I think I'd take a Vitter any day over the one I have. I imagine Rand just wants another ally in a key caucus state to seal the deal this time around. Sure would be nice to pick up some southern states this time.

Vitter would be fantastic as a Governor. A lot of these Republicans like Walker, Vitter, Pence, and others would be and have been great Governors, but would also be terrible as President because unfortunately they've bought into the neocon foreign policy.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Villere will $#@! over the Paul supporters, that's a guarantee. The only way around it is if Vitter can somehow get rid of Villere in favor of someone else.

I think Jeb Bush is even fundraising for Vitter. Vitter gave the middle finger to La Raza and has held it up for the last 5 years. Vitter and Jeb Bush probably have big oil donors.

Rand also helped out MS Gov. Phil Bryant. I think it was a dumb move at the time. But looks good now. Chris McDaniel is probably most tolerant of Phil Bryant out of the Mississippi GOP.

I wonder if Rand will ever get back on Vitter's legislation ending anchor babies.

Senator Brownback is an amazing governor esp when it comes to second amendment but as Presidential candidate back in 2008 he bought into the Neocon foreign policy.
