    Cuba demands Guantanamo Bay back

The article is headlined "Castro" demands it back. Propaganda trick. When you want to vilify, you name the leader. When you want a pragmatic sounding, "just the facts ma'am" intonation, you name the capital city. When you want to stir nationalist sentiment, or make it sound like the whole country feels the same, you name the Nation.

Note which propaganda tack I took.
    Castro Demands Guantanamo Bay Back
    Cuba Demands Guantanamo Bay Back
    Havana Demands Guantanamo Bay Back

    Anyways, here is the story:
Castro demands Guantanamo Bay in return for US-Cuba diplomatic deal

On that, Obama should flip him the bird.

Maybe it says "Castro" because it was President Castro who made the demand?

His brother Raul, who succeeded him as president in 2008, made his demands at the summit of Community of Latin American and Caribbean States in Costa Rica.

"The reestablishment of diplomatic relations is the start of a process of normalising bilateral relations," he said. "But this will not be possible while the blockade still exists, while they don't give back the territory illegally occupied by the Guantanamo naval base."

The land on which the base stands was leased to the US government in 1903 by Cuba's then-rulers.

US officials have so far not responded to Mr Castro's remarks.

Maybe I said Cuba, because Cuba has been demanding it for decades.

It is difficult to separate the Castros from "Cuba".

You know, I know truth, I know propaganda. I find it funny your tired little fingers decided you want to spar with me on this one. It doesn't matter. I didn't post it here to have a debate about it, I posted it because it is an interesting development in the so-called normalization with Cuba, and because I know most people here, who look at the world with their eyes open, will start to notice and take note of the pattern.

He was president in 1903? I had no idea he was that old!

    I know the history...

You can't tell me he didn't use Guantanamo Bay though. And he said it himself, "I am not a crook."

Off topic, but does anyone know if Cuba has a Central Bank now? Last I heard, in 2013 or about, only 3 countries did not have a Central Bank, Cuba, North Korea, and Iran, and all 3 are on our $#@! list... So did Cuba now get a Central Bank since we've "relaxed" our hostilities toward them now?

I don't know about Cuba, but doesn't Iran have a central bank?

IIRC, Iran's central bank was supposed to be one the targets of "our" sanctions ...

"Cuba" is an inanimate noun. Don't fall for the language Matrix of statists. It's designed to propagandize the masses and divide them against each other. Use animate nouns as the subject of verbs when discussing topics like this.
