Politico: The Rise of Rand Paul, loss of Cantor worry pro-Israel donors.

The Republican Jewish Coalition — facing the loss of its leading champion and tensions within the GOP — is planning an aggressive push in 2015 to enforce the hawkish pro-Israel consensus it helped build within the party over the past two decades.

The RJC will gather Tuesday evening for a reception at a Washington steakhouse where some of the party’s most generous Jewish donors — including Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson — will celebrate the incoming Senate majority and fete their most influential allies. Expected attendees include Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, John McCain of Arizona and Rob Portman of Ohio, as well as former Vice President Dick Cheney.

In addition to concerns about the Obama administration’s negotiations with Iran, Republicans face a persistent strain of non-interventionism within their own party — personified by prospective 2016 presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky.

This mindset is just so BIZARRE to me.

Are these Jewish people American citizens, or Israeli? Why so much concern for another nation? Why not live THERE if it is your major concern? Why force American taxpayers to subsidize another nation?

If my most influential allies included a pair of walking corpses everyone hates and a nonentity, I'd be worried, too.

    Ted Cruz of Texas
Remember when people around here used to think Cruz could be a reliable ally? The lesson? Goldman Sachs family members aren't a strong bet. Ever.

He is an ally, except for the fact he is running for President. He has made no secret that he is his own man and foreign policy is where he differs the most. I would rather Sheldon Adelson give money to Cruz than Christie, Bush, or Romney because the establishment may be more scared by Cruz and defect to him. Also Cruz is the least electable candidate and will never win outside of the deep south/plain states if he can even get past New Hampshire.

What do they have to worry about? 99% of the Republicans in Congress are still on their side.

    More from the article:

The RJC “has a well-developed strategy which was executed during former Majority Leader Cantor’s tenure and will continue with the new leadership team in the House and new Senate majority, thus ensuring strong, virtually unanimous Republican support for Israel at this dangerous time,” asserted Florida mall developer Mel Sembler
But remember, kids, there's no such thing as the "Israel Lobby".

He predicted the RJC’s membership “will have feet in all the different camps, and then, once we know who the nominee is, we’ll unify like we always do and it will be a powerful unity. Now, one exception to that would be Rand Paul.”
In a sane world, that alone would win Rand the nomination.

Several top Republican Jewish donors — including Sembler — are lining up behind Jeb Bush’s potential presidential campaign [...] Though Bush, a former Florida governor, has little foreign policy experience in his own right, he’s expressed support for a muscular interventionism that seems to echo that of his brother, former President George W. Bush.
Most people consider Dubya's foreign policy to have been an unmitigated disaster, having cost trillions of dollars and ruined hundreds of thousands of lives. I wonder from whose perspective it would be considered a success worth repeating...

American Jews’ stances on litmus test issues like economic inequality, abortion rights, gay marriage and immigration tend to align more closely with those of the Democratic Party, which has had something of a stranglehold on the Jewish vote for decades.
But if we just... pander... hard... enough...!

Adelson is among the biggest donors to the RJC, which in 2014 assisted Zeldin, along with the successful GOP Senate campaigns of Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Cory Gardner of Colorado and Mike Rounds of South Dakota. All are expected to attend Tuesday’s reception at Capital Grille.
Names worth remembering. Most are keyed in to Cotton, but McCainbot Mk. II will need a Lindsey to play with. I wonder if Mike Rounds has an effeminate lisp?

Like it or not Rand Paul needs to do more damage control and preemptive steps against the RJC attacks. Another trip to Israel, Jewish outreach, and having Jewish outreach and spokesman with in his campaign.

American Jews are significantly less "pro-Israel" than the average American. It is protestant/evangelical Christians who are the ones supporting Israel the most.

"Pro-Israel" donors should have no problem supporting Rand. Rand is not anti-Israel. Rand is a fiscal conservative, unlike most of the other crony establishment candidates, who love big government handouts for everyone. Rand is probably the only candidate that would, as POTUS, veto pork filled bills like the Cromnibus.

It should be noted that Rand has already hired a member of the Ted Cruz team, which infers a pro-Israel stance. The leftist media will ignore steps like that and continue to attack Rand, but it should be obvious to those on the constitutional conservative side that Rand is by no means "anti-Israel". It's the leftist-media and their crony corporatist friends who may not like Rand. Think about it, Rand is the only candidate who might actually reduce their big crony government gravy train.

Rupert Murdoch has given Rand the thumbs up.

I wouldn't take anything from Cruz. Have you heard him speak? He sounds like he's trying to sell used cars. I have to check my wallet every time I hear him speak. Make sure it's still there.

If people believe that, it would be a good way to crash an RLC meeting.

Yes...except that Cruz would take votes away from Rand:

Cruz and Ben Carson have kissed the ring so to speak in Tel Aviv. Just look up Cruz's speech to CUFI, the ones who believe in killing in the name of Jesus. It's pretty sickening. We have no one who isn't sold to the foreign lobbyists and bankers warmongers. Depressing.

I wish that were true. And maybe, you are right. Numerous people at that Adelson confab early last year said their express goal was take Rand out if he became a threat and they would spend any amount of money to do it.

Rand is now scheduled to speak at that Republican Jewish Coalition event tomorrow in front of people like Adelson, Cheney and John Bolton. I'll be curious to hear how that goes.

It is more effective sending non-jewish troops to die and also USA is a bigger treasure chest for funds.

They call themselves pro-Israel to hide and shield what they actually are, that way if you criticize them it means you're anti-Semitic.

They're just a bunch of progressives who are extremists when it comes to foreign policy.

doesn't it go beyond supporting another nation, it borders on supporting a religion. imagine if a Catholic congressman proposed aid to the Vatican (a sovereign country) . all Jewish people have the right of Israeli citizenship, so its not necessarily either or.
