Thread: Poll says majority of Americans support menu labeling

  1. #31
Only about 1 in 10 Americans oppose labeling requirements at each of these places.
    WooHoo! Made the minority again!

Here's the thing... People are already voting with their dollars on this - you don't need a poll.

If 56% of the people really wanted this, they would be going to only restaurants that did this. Which means, they'd be creating a demand for it. Restaurants would respond without being forced. The fact that they are not means that the people who actually eat at these establishments don't really care - it may be nice to know, but it's not enough to affect their purchasing habits. I bet if you took a poll to find out if ice cream shops should be required to put cherries on top of their sundaes, you'd get the same 56% of people agreeing.

Let's just say that those 56% are true to their convictions (you know, to use the government to get their way) and have been boycotting restaurants that don't provide this information on their menus. Do you really think they would start eating there now that the information is required by law?

    Just stupid.

Yup. The only votes that count as a real opinion are votes made with dollars and votes made with feet. All other "votes" are whimsical.
The proper concern of society is the preservation of individual freedom; the proper concern of the individual is the harmony of society.
