SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A grand jury has indicted a former Homer, La. police officer for civil rights violations and for lying to FBI agents, U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley's office announced Thursday.

Willie Fred Knowles, 64, of Homer has been charged with three counts of deprivation of civil rights and one count of lying to a federal agency. According to the indictment, on October 29, 2012 Knowles pushed a victim to the floor and struck the victim in the face and body, causing injury. Knowles reportedly lied to FBI agents on March 1, 2013 and told them he was attacked and never struck the victim.

He is also accused of using his stun gun on two people- one on January 14, 2012 and then on July 5, 2012- without justification, causing injury.

Knowles faces 10 years in prison for each civil rights violation and five years for lying to a federal agency. He also faces three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
“[T]he enshrinement of constitutional rights necessarily takes certain policy choices off the table.” (Heller, 554 U.S., at ___, 128 S.Ct., at 2822.)

How long before "going liberal" replaces "going postal"?

"Up to" are missing from this report....

Care to wager on which side of the "Up to" sentencing will fall on?

Saddest part is, what this guy is getting charged for is small-time compared to what most officers can get away with.

Thankful that he's getting comeuppance, but it's just a drop in the bucket compared to how many never face justice.

cops should not be allowed to serve more than 4 years as public servants, maybe this would reduce the corruption, and remove their rank as well, they dont need to be pretend soldiers under command of 1 person
